20 BEAUTY
Prep for summer with organic
make-up bag must-haves, plus
how to get perfect 60s lashes
…that was my mission on a recent trip to Cancún. Inspired by the likes of Jennifer Aniston
and Eva Longoria – who are rarely snapped looking anything less than perfect on the beach –
I dutifully enrolled myself for five days of bootcamping and spa treatments under the Mexican
sun (see page 89). Ironically, the celebrities ended up copying me, as Cameron Diaz, Drew
Barrymore and Reese Witherspoon were spotted in the nearby resort of Tulum doing the exact same thing a week
after (we do aim to set the trends here at Thomas Cook Travel). Though I’m still about 1,000 ab crunches away from
an Aniston bod, I returned feeling re-energised and like a million bucks. Which is what a holiday’s all about, right?
Kids, on the other hand, don’t have to worry about a lack of energy. They seem to have it in bags. But not to leave
them out of the fun, we tracked down the A-Z of ideas for your brood’s summer break from ziplining in Vegas to the
new Twilight (page 51). Feeling more gluttonous? Saturday Kitchen chef Adam Byatt eats his way through the Algarve
(page 72) and for summer hedonists, we’ve got 10 new ways to live it up in Ibiza (page 81). As for me, I’ll be propping
up the beach bar in the 'squat' position. Enjoy the issue!
