2Pacha’s new competition
When Pacha Ibiza’s directors Danny Whittle and
Mark Netto left the venue to set up a rival club
La Bomba (Avenida 8 de Agosto – which is on the
same road as Pacha), it caused a bit of a DJ exodus, with acts
like Tiësto, Pete Tong, Erick Morillo and Luciano also taking it
as their cue to find a new home for their decks. But the results
will be well wo worth it. Danny and Mark are said to be
working with

Giuseppe Cipriani (the grandson of
the founder
of Harry’s Bar, Venice) on the venue that
opens on
22 May. Defected, the UK house night that
also left PPacha,
will be the hosts on Saturday nights.

Ushuaïa Tower
After years of daytime parties being closed
down, the emergence of Ushuaïa in 2011
changed the island dramatically. The five-star
hotel, famed for its huge concert-style stage
in its courtyard, hosts the most in-demand
daytime parties the island has ever seen –
with the biggest names in the dance music
industry falling over themselves to play
there, naturally. And this summer, Ushuaïa
opens a sister-venue, Ushuaïa Tower
(C/Playa d’en Bossa, ushuaiaibiza.com)
next door, on 25 May. The 181 themed suites
might be priced for the rich and famous, but
its rooftop Sky Lounge will be the real star of
the show. The open-air bar – which is open
for non-guests, too – has panoramic views of
the Med and is a great vantage spot to see the
parties in Ushuaïa below.
