HYDE GENEALOGY.
Samuel Hyde is described in an early entry in tlic Norwich
records as being of Wiudbam. But he removed from
there to Lebanon, where he d. 6 November, 1742 ; and in
1743, Hempstead says, "his widow is still living at the
homestead with her son."

in. John Hyde (5), born at Norwich, Conn., in December,
1667, tho second son of Samuel Hyde (2) and Jane
Lee, was a grandson of the first William Hyde of Norwich.
He m. 3 March, 1698, Experience Abel (98), born^
at Norwich in December, 1674, the second daughter of
his first cousin Margaret Post (15) and Caleb Abel of
Norwich. They settled at Norwich. He was a farmer
and in 1719, he purchased a farm of Nathaniel Backus, at
Wawecus Hill ; which farm in 1859, was in the hands of
some of the descendants of his granddaughter Zylpha
Hyde (224), who m. James Rogers. John Hyde, died at
Norwich 26 July, 1727. His wife survived him, and d.
24 Oct., 1763.
