ARTICLE 2—FACULTY
The Faculty shall consist of Members and Associate Members.
2.1 Members
Only Members shall be eligible to vote. Persons holding 51% or greater appointments in the
Department who have appointments as tenured or tenure-eligible with professor, associate
professor, or assistant professor in their title will be Members in the Department.
2.2 Associate Members
Associate Members of the Faculty are members in every sense except for the privilege of voting
and, thus, are eligible to participate in Department meetings and other Departmental activities.
Associate Members are:
i. Persons holding appointments equivalent to those of Members from other departments
who have joint appointments in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering.
ii. Instructors, lecturers, and non-classified employees who are academic professionals
holding continuing-eligible positions in the Department.
iii. Emeritus Faculty of the Department.
iv. Persons with the rank of adjunct professor or visiting professor in the Department.
2.3 Power of Appointment
Members may designate other individuals as Associate Members. The designation shall be
determined by a majority vote of the Members. By majority vote of the Members, an Associate
Member may be granted Member status.
ARTICLE 3—AEROSPACE AND MECHANICAL ENGINEERING STUDENTS
3.1 Student Constituency
The student constituency shall be all undergraduate and graduate students who have declared
majors in the Department.
3.2 Student Representation
The students of this constituency shall be responsible for selecting, according to procedures of
their own choice, their representatives on committees to which they are a party.
