Jonathan Leland, Esq. <strong>of</strong> Sutton, who has furnished many in-<br />

teresting facts, writes me that he has seen his will, dated 1 July,<br />

1746, (which was cancelled) in which he names his sons, Joseph <strong>of</strong><br />

Hop., <strong>Richard</strong>, Moses, Daniel; and his daughters, Susanna TOWN,<br />

Mary WARD, Mehitabel HAVEN, Sarah HEMENWAY, and his wife<br />

SARAH. His " BROTHER NATHANIEL BALLORD " is also named<br />

in <strong>the</strong> will.<br />

ELKANAH HAVEN 2<br />

, bro<strong>the</strong>r <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> above, settled in Fram.<br />

His first wife was ABIAL BARBER, daughter <strong>of</strong> John Barber<br />

<strong>of</strong> Medfield, by whom he had MEHITABEL, 23 Aug. 1709; and<br />

ELIZABETH, 3 Feb. 1711. He married MARY WALKER, <strong>of</strong><br />

Fram. 2 Dec. 1714; she died about 1716, soon after <strong>the</strong> birth <strong>of</strong><br />

a son, JOHN. HE next married PATIENCE LELAND, <strong>of</strong> Sherburne,<br />

5 Feb. 1717, by whom he had SYBILLAH, in 1717, who<br />

died 19 Feb. 1749. SHE married SAMUEL EAMES, jr. <strong>of</strong> Fram.,<br />

and had Patience, 6 Jan. 1740; Samuel, 1 Feb. 1742; Ebene-<br />

zer, \ Sept. 1744; Sybillah, 3 April, 1747; MICAH, 21 June,<br />

1719; ELKANAH, 21 July, 1721 and ; PATIENCE, 27 July, 1729.<br />

(See p. 16.) HE had a fourth wife, named LYDIA. He lived on<br />

<strong>the</strong> hill, south <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> OLD Baptist meeting-house. He was constable,<br />

in 1720; was on committees, in 1725, and 1726; selectman, in<br />

1730. He died suddenly in 1765. His son Dea. JOHN HAVEN,<br />

<strong>of</strong> Sutton, administered. His account is recorded, book 37, p.<br />

339.<br />

MARY HAVEN 2<br />

, sister <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> above, married a JOHNSON.<br />

Mrs. Sears remembers that she was called "Aunt Johnson." " Na-<br />

thaniel Johnson, and Mary <strong>Haven</strong>, married, 23 Nov. 1708." (Records<br />

<strong>of</strong> Sherburne.) It is believed that she left no children.<br />

NATHAN HAVEN 2<br />

, bro<strong>the</strong>r <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> above, settled in Fram., and<br />

lived in <strong>the</strong> old Grout house, near Holliston. His wife's name<br />

was SILENCE, by whom he had SILENCE, 21 Dec. 1713; NA-<br />

THAN, 7 May, 1716 ; Lois, 4 Dec. 1721 ; PHINEHAS, 6 Oct. 1723 ;<br />

BULAH, 6 Nov. 1725 and ; ANNA, 12 May, 1731. His birth does<br />

not appear, but he was taxed in 1710. He was hog- reeve in 1724;<br />

on com. to defend title, in 1726; constable, in 1729; admitted to<br />

church, with his wife Silence, 15 June, 1718 both ; baptized <strong>the</strong><br />

next sabbath will ; dated, 20 Sept. 1763; inventory returned, 9<br />

April 1764; recorded, book 39, p. 22; no children named in will ;<br />

property given to wife, SILENCE, and to grand children, Elisha,<br />

Silence, and Mehitabel Goddard, children <strong>of</strong> CAPT. ELISHA GOD-<br />
