<strong>of</strong> Sudbury, and is now his widow. <strong>The</strong>y had SARAH, who married<br />

ABEL SMITH <strong>of</strong> Sud., and has six children; GARDNER, married his<br />

cousin, LUCY RICHARDSON, <strong>of</strong> Sudbury, who died leaving two children.<br />

He next married LUCRETIA DAKIN, <strong>of</strong> Sudbury, and has<br />

two children by her ; LUTHER, married his 2cl cousin, ELIZABETH<br />

HUNT, <strong>of</strong> Sudbury, and has died, leaving five children ; SEWALL is<br />

living, toge<strong>the</strong>r with his mo<strong>the</strong>r, in <strong>the</strong> paternal house. He married<br />

SOPHIA PUFFER, <strong>of</strong> Sudbury, and has jive children ; NEWELL, a<br />

twin with SEWALL, married SARAH EATON, <strong>of</strong> Sudbury ; no children<br />

, married ABIGAIL HARDING, who<br />

died 3 Feb. 1815, aged 58. He next married OLIVE GILMAN,<br />

widow <strong>of</strong> Dea. Robert G., who is<br />

living<br />

in Franklin, aged 76. In<br />

1811, HE succeded his fa<strong>the</strong>r, as Deacon <strong>of</strong> Dr. Emmons' Church,<br />

and died 18 July, 1843, aged 87. <strong>The</strong> children (all by <strong>the</strong> first<br />

wife) were, WHITING, ALFRED, ELIAB, JULITTA, and ELECTA.<br />

WHITING, is a farmer in Franklin, having five children ALFRED<br />

(Brown Univ. 1802), was a lawyer in Portland (Me.), and afterwards<br />

a Judge <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Circuit Court in Kentucky. He resigned from<br />

ill health, and retired to Natches, Miss., where he died in 1819,<br />

unmarried, aged 38. See a very honorable notice <strong>of</strong> him in Am.<br />

Quarterly Reg. <strong>of</strong> 1840. ELIAB, was a painter <strong>of</strong> great promise.<br />

See notice <strong>of</strong> him, by Dunlap, in a volume entitled " Arts and<br />

Design." He married in New York city, in 1814, and had four<br />

children. For his health, he removed to <strong>the</strong> West Indies about<br />

1820, and died at Havanna in 1834, aged 48. JULITTA, married<br />

DEA. SAMUEL ALLEN in 1816, now <strong>of</strong> Medway Village, and has<br />

three sons. ELECTA, to whom I am indebted for a very intelligible<br />

account <strong>of</strong> this branch, inherits <strong>the</strong> house <strong>of</strong> her late fa<strong>the</strong>r, and is<br />

living <strong>the</strong>re with her step-mo<strong>the</strong>r.<br />

1800; and CALVIN WHITING, 4 Nov. 1803. JULITTA married<br />

DANIEL FULLER <strong>of</strong> Dover, and had Daniel, Edivard, David, and<br />

Jlndrew Jacksvn. JOHN PRESTON, bookseller, N. Y. married CAR-<br />

OLINE BAKER <strong>of</strong> Dedham, by whom he has, George Preston, (now<br />

a junior<br />

at College) Caroline ; Louisa, William Stewart, and Charles<br />

Dwig/it. His present wife was EMILY DRAPER <strong>of</strong> Greenfield, Mass.<br />

CALVIN WHITING, painter in Boston, married ADELINE SANGER<br />

<strong>of</strong> Roxbury, by whom he has George, Albert, Francis, and Charles.<br />

Mrs. JULITTA HAVEN died 9 Jan. 1807, aged 33. Her<br />

husband married SUSANNA WILLIAMS, widow <strong>of</strong> Capt. Isaac<br />

W. <strong>of</strong> Charlestown, 29 Dec. 1807 her ; maiden name was HOOP-
