'41. In 1748, with his son Joseph, he petitioned to attend <strong>the</strong><br />

preaching <strong>of</strong> Rev. Solomon Reed in Fram., and was denied by <strong>the</strong><br />

church; was moderator in 1752 ; treasurer in '54 and '55; over-<br />

seer <strong>of</strong> poor in '56; chosen deacon 17 Feb. '25; ruling elder 20<br />

'32. He married MRS.<br />

June, '31 ordained in same <strong>of</strong>fice 14 ; June,<br />

SUSANNA DRURY, <strong>of</strong> Fram., 5 Dec. 1760; made his will, 15<br />

Dec. '61 ; proved 26 Jan. '68 named in <strong>the</strong> ; will, wife, SUSANNA;<br />

children, JOHN, JOSEPH, MOSES, MARTHA, MARY and HANNAH ;<br />

also <strong>the</strong> children <strong>of</strong> ELIAS ; Moses Adams, son <strong>of</strong> Lois ; and Asa,<br />

Silas, James and Mary, children <strong>of</strong> son JOSIAH. He was a shoemaker,<br />

and lived, (as did also his son Dea. Moses,) in a house still<br />

standing on <strong>the</strong> " Mellen road," near <strong>the</strong> house <strong>of</strong> Col. Ellis. His<br />

aged grandson, Isaac <strong>Haven</strong> <strong>of</strong> Hop., says he was a man <strong>of</strong> pleasantry<br />

and humor, much more so than his son, Dea. Moses.<br />

, sister <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> above,<br />

TOWN, <strong>of</strong> Oxford. <strong>The</strong>y had SUSANNA in 1715, who married<br />

her 2d cousin, Dea. JOHN HAVEN <strong>of</strong> Sutton ; (See p. 16.) JOSEPH,<br />

who died young; MOSES, who settled in Oxford; ELIJAH, who<br />

died without chil. ; ISRAEL, who removed with \\isfamily, includ-<br />

ing his aged MOTHER, from Oxford to Belchertowri, where she<br />

died, in Jan. or Feb. 1787, aged 96. HE also died <strong>the</strong>re lately, at a<br />

very advanced age. Israel Town, Esq., <strong>of</strong> Belchertown, is believed<br />

to be his great grandson. <strong>The</strong>re were also TWO DAUGHTERS,<br />

names unknown. ONE married a LARNED, <strong>of</strong> Oxford, and died<br />

<strong>the</strong>re, aged over 100. Her eldest son lately died, at a very advanced<br />

age. Susanna Larned, <strong>of</strong> Webster, a descendant <strong>of</strong> hers, married<br />

Rev. Geo. Champion, <strong>of</strong> Conn., a missionary in Africa. <strong>The</strong><br />

OTHER DAUGHTER married a KINGSBURY <strong>of</strong> Oxford.<br />

1718; SARAH, 11 Sept. 1719; RICHARD, 16 Dec. 1722; ELIZA-<br />

BETH, 24 May, 1724 ; JOHN, 7 May, 1726; REBECCA, 26 April,<br />

1728, died young ; DANIEL, 1 Feb. 1730 ; JONATHAN, 3 May, 1732 ;<br />

SIMON, 5 March, 1734, died 14 April, 1734; ELIAS, 19 Feb. 1735,<br />

died 2 July, 1735 ; SIMON, birth unknown. (See p. 23.) He was<br />

hogreeve in 1721; surveyor <strong>of</strong> highways and fence viewer, and<br />

on com. on school-house in 1724; on com. to get title to land for<br />

meeting house in 1725; on com. to manage dispute with Col.<br />

Buckminster in 1726; on com. to defend Rev. Mr. Swift's com-<br />

plaint, at Court, in 1733; admitted to full communion, with his<br />

wife, in 1717.<br />
