Nov. 1747, who died 7 May, 1752; ABIGAIL, 11 Nov. 1749;<br />

, sister <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> above, married Hon. JOSIAH<br />

LUCY, 11 April, 1752, died an infant; LUTHER, 11 April, 1753 ;<br />

JOSIAH, 22 Feb. 1762; MICAH and ANNE, 30 May, 1766; Anne<br />

died in infancy. (See p. 29.) Mrs. Stone died 20 May, 1819,<br />

aged 94. Her husband fell from his saw-mill into <strong>the</strong> river, 12<br />

April, 1785, and was killed, aged 60.<br />

SAMUEL HAVEN 3<br />

, bro<strong>the</strong>r <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> above, married MEHIT-<br />

ABEL APPLETON, daughter <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Rev. Dr. A. <strong>of</strong> Cambridge,<br />

in Jan. 1753 she died ; Sept. 9, 1777, aged 49. By her he had<br />

SAMUEL, 4 Aug. 1754; JOSEPH, 11 Dec. 1757; MARGARET, 24<br />

Aug. 1759, and MEHITABEL, 27 May, 1761, who both died young ;<br />

NATHANIEL APPLETON, 19 July, 1762; ELIZABETH, 2 July, 1764 ;<br />

JOHN, 8 April, 1766; HENRY, 30 June, 1768; WILLIAM, 30 July,<br />

1770 ; also TWO OTHERS, who died in infancy. For his 2d wife,<br />

he married Mrs. MARGARET MARSHALL, wid. <strong>of</strong> Capt. William<br />

M. <strong>of</strong> Portsmouth, 2 June, 1778. She died 4 March, 1806,<br />

aged 60. By her, he had JOSHUA, 2 April, 1779 ; GEORGE, in<br />

March, 1781, who died at Havre, in 1795; THOMAS, 2 March,<br />

1783 ; MEHITABEL, 24 April, 1785 ; CHARLES CHAUNCEY. in Aug.<br />

1787 ; MARY, in Aug. 1789. (See p. 32.)<br />

This eminent man graduated at Har. Univ. in 1749; was ordained<br />

over <strong>the</strong> South Parish in Portsmouth, 6 May, 1752 ; received<br />

degree <strong>of</strong> D. D., from Univ. <strong>of</strong> Edinburgh, in 1772, and,<br />

from Dart. Col., in 1773. He discharged his parochial duties, (having<br />

a colleague from 1799,) till 1803, when <strong>the</strong> infirmities <strong>of</strong> age<br />

compelled him to retire. He died, 3 March, 1806. His wife<br />

survived but 36 -hours, and <strong>the</strong>y were interred toge<strong>the</strong>r. For a<br />

MARY HAVEN 3<br />

, sister <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> above, married JOHN NICH-<br />

OLS <strong>of</strong> Upton, 17 July, 1751, by whom she had ABIGAIL, in<br />

1755 ; MARY, in 1757. She next married JONATHAN LOCKE<br />

<strong>of</strong> Hop., 2 Oct. 1761, by whom she had SAMUEL, who died in infancy<br />

; JOHN, 14 Feb. 1764; SALLY, 9 April, 1766. <strong>The</strong>y <strong>the</strong>n<br />

made several removals, but soon settled in Ashby, where he was<br />

a magistrate, and where he and his wife died at an advanced age.<br />

<strong>The</strong>y also had HITTY in 1768 : ELIZABETH in 1770 JOSEPH in<br />
