James Greenwood afterwards lived. By his wife SARAH, he had<br />

28 Nov. 1754, and had Sarah, 13 Sept. 1755; Abigail, 15 Sept.<br />

1757; James, 12 April, 1760; Isaac, 24 Oct. 1762; Sarah, 16<br />

March, 1765; Rebecca, 5 March, 1768; Es<strong>the</strong>r, 25 Nov. 1771;<br />

REBECCA, 26 July, 1743. JAMES HAVEN, (or perhaps<br />

his SON above,) married MEHITABEL BIXBY <strong>of</strong> Fram. 16<br />

Nov. 1752, and had JAMES, 27 July, 1753 ; MEHITABEL, 23 Oct.<br />

1756; WILLIAM, 4 May, 1759; and SAMUEL, 4 Jan. 1762, who<br />

probably married DESIRE CLOYES in Aug. 1784. In May, 1746,<br />

James, Nathan, Joseph and John <strong>Haven</strong>, and three o<strong>the</strong>rs, asked<br />

to be dismissed from Mr. Swift's church, and were refused. In<br />

Sept. 1746, <strong>the</strong>y requested <strong>the</strong> church to call a council, which<br />

was also refused. In Nov. 1746, Lydia, Silence, Sarah, and three<br />

Mehitabei <strong>Haven</strong>s asked to be recommended to Rev. Sol. Reed's<br />

disorderly" and referred to a committee. In<br />

April, 1747, eighteen women made <strong>the</strong> same request, and were refused.<br />

I have <strong>the</strong> following anecdote from <strong>the</strong> widow <strong>of</strong> Moses<br />

Fisk, aged 84. A committee <strong>of</strong> Mr. Swift's church waited on<br />

Mr. Reed, to inquire into his creed, and began by asking if he<br />

was a new light? He answered that he was an old light, new<br />

snuffed. Mr. Reed was <strong>the</strong> grandfa<strong>the</strong>r <strong>of</strong> Hon. John Reed, late<br />

member <strong>of</strong> Congress.<br />
