WILLIS-Alan Tillman McCallister, Sr. age 53 passed away Thursday, October 21,<br />

<strong>1999</strong> at his home. Survivors <strong>in</strong>clude two sons, Alan T. McCallister, Jr. Floyd,<br />

Dougley Daniel McCallister, Willis; four daughters, Roxanne May, Lori<br />

McCallister, Rhonda Paffrath, Jacksonville, Florida, Jessica Carol McCallister,<br />

Willis; mo<strong>the</strong>r, Fonda Opal Hankey, Treasure Island, Florida; f<strong>in</strong>ancee, L<strong>in</strong>da Sue<br />

Snider, Willis; two bro<strong>the</strong>rs, Robert Dwayne McCallister, Wash<strong>in</strong>gton State, Larry<br />

Orville McCallister, Floyd. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at <strong>the</strong><br />

Maberry Funeral Home, Floyd, with Reverend Mike Price officiat<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

RADFORD-Martha Spence Shelor, age 95, formerly of Willis passed away<br />

Wednesday, November 10, <strong>1999</strong> at Meadowbrook Nurs<strong>in</strong>g Home, Shawsville. She<br />

was <strong>the</strong> daughter of <strong>the</strong> late George and Peora Belcher Spence and was<br />

preceded <strong>in</strong> death by her husband, Lu<strong>the</strong>r Seaton Shelor. She is survived by<br />

several nieces, nephews and cous<strong>in</strong>s. She was member of <strong>the</strong> Willis United<br />

Methodist Church. Funeral service was at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 12, <strong>1999</strong><br />

at <strong>the</strong> Willis United Methodist Church with Reverend Lawrence Nuckolls<br />

officiat<strong>in</strong>g. Burial was <strong>in</strong> Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Maberry Funeral Home, Floyd,<br />

handled arrangements.<br />

PAULINE CONNER SHORTER RAKES<br />

FLOYD- Paul<strong>in</strong>e Conner Shorter Rakes, 94, passed away Tuesday ,November 9,<br />

<strong>1999</strong> at Montgomery Regional Hospital. She had been a resident of Meadowbrook<br />

Nurs<strong>in</strong>g Home for several years. She was born October 24, 1905. Surviv<strong>in</strong>g is a<br />

son, Harry Shorter and wife, Claudie of Whitehall, MD; a grandson, Harry Shorter,<br />

Jr., Seven Valley, PA; two granddaughters, Cynthia Blev<strong>in</strong>s, Glen Rock, PA ,<br />

Kimberly Shorter, Woodbridge;great-granddaughter, Kaithl<strong>in</strong> Shorter, Seven<br />

Valleys, PA; two stepsons, Marv<strong>in</strong> Rakes, Raliegh, NC and Allen Rakes of<br />

Pofftown, NC; sisters, Hazel Ferris, Floyd, Georgianna L<strong>in</strong>k and husband Leon,<br />

Bristol, Tennessee, Bonnie Conner and husband Arthur, Copper Hill, Velva Davis,<br />

Virg<strong>in</strong>ia Conner and Iva Morgan, all of Roanoke; Dexter Sowers, Copper Hill;<br />

bro<strong>the</strong>r, Woodrow Conner and wife, Reba, Sarasota, Fla. A special niece Frances<br />

Gardner and husband, Olen of R<strong>in</strong>er. Numerous o<strong>the</strong>r nieces and nephews.<br />

Funeral services were held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Salem Church (Head of <strong>the</strong><br />

River) with Rev. Olen Gardner and Elder Lane Carter officiat<strong>in</strong>g. Interment was <strong>in</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> church cemetery. Wood Funeral Home, Floyd, handled arrangements.<br />

ELMOND O.(SQUIRRLEY) WEEKS<br />

FLOYD- Elmond O. (Squirrely) Weeks age 76 of Floyd passed away Thursday,<br />

November 11, <strong>1999</strong> at <strong>the</strong> Salem, VA Medical Center. He was a navy veteran of<br />

World War II and a lifetime member of <strong>the</strong> Floyd County Volunteer Fire<br />

Department. Survivors <strong>in</strong>clude his wife Vivian B. Weeks, Floyd; three sons and<br />

daughter-<strong>in</strong>-law, Robert and Karen Weeks, Ba<strong>in</strong>bridge, GA, Allen Weeks, Parker,<br />

AZ, James Weeks, Alexandria, step-son, Derwood Agee Floyd; step-daughter,<br />

Vaughnia Harmon, Floyd, 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren. Funeral<br />

services was 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 14, <strong>1999</strong> at <strong>the</strong> Maberry Funeral Home<br />
