ARLIE HARMAN TOBLER<br />

FLOYD-Arlie Harman Tobler, 99, a resident of Skyl<strong>in</strong>e Manor Nurs<strong>in</strong>g Home<br />

passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2000 at Montgomery Regional Hospital. She<br />

was a retired merchant and a member of <strong>the</strong> Willis United Methodist Church. She<br />

was <strong>the</strong> daughter of Marv<strong>in</strong> L. and Cordelia Weddle Harman and <strong>the</strong> widow of<br />

Sherman Tobler. Survivors are: one sister, Mary Lee Hodges, Willis; two bro<strong>the</strong>rs<br />

and sisters-<strong>in</strong>-law, Harry E. and Helen Harman, Floyd, Fred and M<strong>in</strong>nie Harman,<br />

Floyd; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services were 2:00 p.m.<br />

Friday, March 10, 2000 at <strong>the</strong> Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend<br />

Lawrence Nuckolls officiat<strong>in</strong>g. Burial followed <strong>in</strong> Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Willis.<br />

ISSAC "POPS" PERRY WEDDLE<br />

EDEN, NC-Issac "Pops" Perry Weddle, died March 8, 2000, at <strong>the</strong> Brian Center<br />

Nurs<strong>in</strong>g Home, Eden. He was 97 years old. A graveside service was held at 11<br />

a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2000 at Overlook Cemetery. He was born <strong>in</strong> Floyd<br />

County, Va., November 8, 1902 to Abner and Cora Weddle. On October 3, 1925,<br />

he married Edna Alcorn, who preceded him <strong>in</strong> death. He was also preceded <strong>in</strong><br />

death by a daughter, Nad<strong>in</strong>e Weddle. Survivors are: sons, Max and wife Jean,<br />

James "Buddy" and wife Louise, and Clifford and wife Janet of Eden; seven<br />

grandchildren, Libby Weddle McK<strong>in</strong>ney, Anchorage, Alaska, Joey Weddle,<br />

Murrells Inlet, South Carol<strong>in</strong>a, Mary Weddle Coll<strong>in</strong>s, Garden City, South Carol<strong>in</strong>a,<br />

Jimmy Weddle, Eden, Michael Weddle, Eden, Mark Weddle, Garden City, South<br />

Carol<strong>in</strong>a, and Dr. Diann Weddle, Round Lake Beach, Ill<strong>in</strong>ois; 14<br />

great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren, and one sister, Kate Weddle<br />

Ratliff, Floyd. The family thanks The Brian Center for <strong>the</strong> lov<strong>in</strong>g care <strong>the</strong>y gave to<br />

"Papa" Weddle.<br />

GERMAN ALVY BOYD<br />

FLOYD-German Alvy Boyd, 80, departed from this life March 20, 2000 to a home<br />

free of pa<strong>in</strong>. He was a devoted husband and fa<strong>the</strong>r. He was a long time member of<br />

Mt. View Methodist Church. Mr. Boyd was preceded <strong>in</strong> death by his parents, one<br />

bro<strong>the</strong>r and one grandson. He is survived by: devoted and lov<strong>in</strong>g wife of 60 years,<br />

Ka<strong>the</strong>r<strong>in</strong>e Hall Boyd; one son and daughter-<strong>in</strong>-law, Glenn and Phylis Boyd, Mobil<br />

Alabama; two daughters and sons-<strong>in</strong>-law, Alece and Ralph O’Brien, West Pla<strong>in</strong>s,<br />

MO, Joyce and Doug Sweeney, Roanoke; five grandchildren; three<br />

great-grandchildren; one bro<strong>the</strong>r and sister-<strong>in</strong>-law, Lu<strong>the</strong>r and Irene Boyd; one<br />

sister, Myrtle Boyd; one sister-<strong>in</strong>-law, Iris Boyd. Funeral services will be Thursday<br />

at 2 p.m. at Mr. View United Methodist Church, Meadows of Dan with Reverend<br />

Norman Biggs and Doug Sweeney officiat<strong>in</strong>g. Interment will follow <strong>in</strong> Boyd Family<br />

Cemetery, Meadows of Dan. Gardner Funeral Home <strong>in</strong> charge of arrangements.<br />
