VALRY ALDRIDGE CONNER
COPPER HILL-Valry Aldridge Conner, age 91, passed away Wednesday, August 18, 1999 in a Salem hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband J. Amon Conner. She is survived by: three brothers, Wellie Aldridge,
Pilot, Bure Aldridge, Check, Lewis Aldridge, Floyd; three sisters, Ercell Willis, Roanoke, Versie Hall, Roanoke,
Gladys Perdue, Copper Hill. Funeral service was Friday, August 20, at 11:00 a.m. at Gardner Funeral Home with
Rev. Raymond Martin officiating. Interment followed in Restvale Cemetery.
CARVIE LEE GOAD
WILLIS-Carvie Lee Goad, age 92, passed away Wednesday, August 18, 1999 at Twin County Hospital, Galax. He
was a retired auto mechanic. Survivors are: son and daughter-in-law, Clifton and Joan H. Goad, Greensboro, NC;
one sister; Laura Goad, Dugspur; one foster sister, Estelle Dickinson, Dugspur; one grandson, five granddaughters,
four great-granddaughters, four great-grandsons, four great-great granddaughters, two great-great grandsons.
Funeral services were 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 20, at the Maberry Funeral Home with Rev. Nathan Montgomery
officiating. Burial will be in Greasy Creek Cemetery. Maberry FuneralHome, Floyd, handled arrangements.
RUTH CRAIGHEAD JONES
TERRY’S FORK-Ruth Craighead Jones, 88, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 17, 1999 at Heritage Hall
Nursing Home, Blacksburg. She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred R. Jones, and son, Jack Jones. Surviving
are a daughter-in-law, Mildred H. Jones of Christiansburg, a granddaughter, Debra Coleman of Christiansburg, a
grandson, Randy Jones and wife Kim of Wytheville. Also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were
Friday, August 20, at Wood Funeral Home, Floyd, with Rev. Michael Bond officiating. Interment in the Huffville
Church Cemetery.
EDNA BOOTHE MOLES
PULASKI-Edna Boothe Moles, (Shorty), 73, of 616 Henry Avenue, Pulaski, died Tuesday morning, August 17,
1999 in the Pulaski Community Hospital. She was born in Floyd County on October 24, 1925 and was the daughter
of Brady and Alma Boothe. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Smith and a brother, Brady Boothe,
Jr. Edna was a cherished classmate of the Floyd High School graduate of 1943. Edna was a special Mother to and
helped to raise her husband’s sisters and brothers and was a special Nana to many nieces and nephews in the family
and also to John Robert Stevens. She was a special friend and caregiver to Ruth Carney and was a loyal and
beloved friend to many. Edna was an active member of Abundant Life Ministries, serving as Secretary and
treasurer for over 25 years and a Primary Class teacher for 40 years. She was well known for giving a Bible to
every new pupil in her class. She recently received the National Sunday School Teacher of the Year award from the
Pentecostal Church of God for her many years of dedicated teaching. Her cheerful smile and dedication to the Lord
left a lasting impression on all who met her and we are happy to announce that she has gone to her reward in
heaven. Surveying are: her husband, Marvin D. Moles, Sr., Pulaski; daughters and sons-in-law, Joan M. and Rev.
Howard Starling, N.C., Donna M. and Rev. Rick Shelton, St. Louis, Mo., Diane M. Stumbo and Mark A. Lynch,
Dublin, Teresa M. and Robert Jones, Sr., St. Louis, Mo.; sons and daughters-in-law, Marvin D. Moles, Jr. and
Elaine Moles, Pulaski, Gene D. and Debra Moles, Pulaski; grandchildren and spouses, Brady and Rebecca Moles,
Keri and Scott Peterson, Chad Moles, Jeffrey Shelton, Joshua Shelton, Gabriel Shelton, Garrett Shelton, Heather
Stumbo, Robert Jones, Jr., Victoria Jones, Micaela Jones; brothers and sisters, Virginia Graham, Fairlawn, Annie
Jones, Floyd, Nancy Bragg, Salem, Jimmy Boothe, Floyd, Estelle Shelor, Christiansburg, Jean Huff, Indian Valley,
Christine Horton, Floyd, Joe Boothe, Floyd. Funeral services was held Thursday at 11 a.m. from the Abundant Life
Ministries with the Rev. Randall Lawrence and the Rev. Rick Shelton officiating. Burial in Highland Memory
Gardens, Dublin. In lieu of flowers the family wishes that memorials be made to the Primary Class of the Abundant
Life Ministries, 600 Skyline Drive, Pulaski, VA 24301. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski.
