VALRY ALDRIDGE CONNER<br />

COPPER HILL-Valry Aldridge Conner, age 91, passed away Wednesday, <strong>August</strong> 18, <strong>1999</strong> <strong>in</strong> a Salem hospital.<br />

She was preceded <strong>in</strong> death by her husband J. Amon Conner. She is survived by: three bro<strong>the</strong>rs, Wellie Aldridge,<br />

Pilot, Bure Aldridge, Check, Lewis Aldridge, Floyd; three sisters, Ercell Willis, Roanoke, Versie Hall, Roanoke,<br />

Gladys Perdue, Copper Hill. Funeral service was Friday, <strong>August</strong> 20, at 11:00 a.m. at Gardner Funeral Home with<br />

Rev. Raymond Mart<strong>in</strong> officiat<strong>in</strong>g. Interment followed <strong>in</strong> Restvale Cemetery.<br />

CARVIE LEE GOAD<br />

WILLIS-Carvie Lee Goad, age 92, passed away Wednesday, <strong>August</strong> 18, <strong>1999</strong> at Tw<strong>in</strong> County Hospital, Galax. He<br />

was a retired auto mechanic. Survivors are: son and daughter-<strong>in</strong>-law, Clifton and Joan H. Goad, Greensboro, NC;<br />

one sister; Laura Goad, Dugspur; one foster sister, Estelle Dick<strong>in</strong>son, Dugspur; one grandson, five granddaughters,<br />

four great-granddaughters, four great-grandsons, four great-great granddaughters, two great-great grandsons.<br />

Funeral services were 11:00 a.m. Friday, <strong>August</strong> 20, at <strong>the</strong> Maberry Funeral Home with Rev. Nathan Montgomery<br />

officiat<strong>in</strong>g. Burial will be <strong>in</strong> Greasy Creek Cemetery. Maberry FuneralHome, Floyd, handled arrangements.<br />

RUTH CRAIGHEAD JONES<br />

TERRY’S FORK-Ruth Craighead Jones, 88, went to be with <strong>the</strong> Lord Tuesday, <strong>August</strong> 17, <strong>1999</strong> at Heritage Hall<br />

Nurs<strong>in</strong>g Home, Blacksburg. She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred R. Jones, and son, Jack Jones. Surviv<strong>in</strong>g<br />

are a daughter-<strong>in</strong>-law, Mildred H. Jones of Christiansburg, a granddaughter, Debra Coleman of Christiansburg, a<br />

grandson, Randy Jones and wife Kim of Wy<strong>the</strong>ville. Also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were<br />

Friday, <strong>August</strong> 20, at Wood Funeral Home, Floyd, with Rev. Michael Bond officiat<strong>in</strong>g. Interment <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Huffville<br />

Church Cemetery.<br />

EDNA BOOTHE MOLES<br />

PULASKI-Edna Boo<strong>the</strong> Moles, (Shorty), 73, of 616 Henry Avenue, Pulaski, died Tuesday morn<strong>in</strong>g, <strong>August</strong> 17,<br />

<strong>1999</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Pulaski Community Hospital. She was born <strong>in</strong> Floyd County on October 24, 1925 and was <strong>the</strong> daughter<br />

of Brady and Alma Boo<strong>the</strong>. She was also preceded <strong>in</strong> death by a sister, Thelma Smith and a bro<strong>the</strong>r, Brady Boo<strong>the</strong>,<br />

Jr. Edna was a cherished classmate of <strong>the</strong> Floyd High School graduate of 1943. Edna was a special Mo<strong>the</strong>r to and<br />

helped to raise her husband’s sisters and bro<strong>the</strong>rs and was a special Nana to many nieces and nephews <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> family<br />

and also to John Robert Stevens. She was a special friend and caregiver to Ruth Carney and was a loyal and<br />

beloved friend to many. Edna was an active member of Abundant Life M<strong>in</strong>istries, serv<strong>in</strong>g as Secretary and<br />

treasurer for over 25 years and a Primary Class teacher for 40 years. She was well known for giv<strong>in</strong>g a Bible to<br />

every new pupil <strong>in</strong> her class. She recently received <strong>the</strong> National Sunday School Teacher of <strong>the</strong> Year award from <strong>the</strong><br />

Pentecostal Church of God for her many years of dedicated teach<strong>in</strong>g. Her cheerful smile and dedication to <strong>the</strong> Lord<br />

left a last<strong>in</strong>g impression on all who met her and we are happy to announce that she has gone to her reward <strong>in</strong><br />

heaven. Survey<strong>in</strong>g are: her husband, Marv<strong>in</strong> D. Moles, Sr., Pulaski; daughters and sons-<strong>in</strong>-law, Joan M. and Rev.<br />

Howard Starl<strong>in</strong>g, N.C., Donna M. and Rev. Rick Shelton, St. Louis, Mo., Diane M. Stumbo and Mark A. Lynch,<br />

Dubl<strong>in</strong>, Teresa M. and Robert Jones, Sr., St. Louis, Mo.; sons and daughters-<strong>in</strong>-law, Marv<strong>in</strong> D. Moles, Jr. and<br />

Ela<strong>in</strong>e Moles, Pulaski, Gene D. and Debra Moles, Pulaski; grandchildren and spouses, Brady and Rebecca Moles,<br />

Keri and Scott Peterson, Chad Moles, Jeffrey Shelton, Joshua Shelton, Gabriel Shelton, Garrett Shelton, Hea<strong>the</strong>r<br />

Stumbo, Robert Jones, Jr., Victoria Jones, Micaela Jones; bro<strong>the</strong>rs and sisters, Virg<strong>in</strong>ia Graham, Fairlawn, Annie<br />

Jones, Floyd, Nancy Bragg, Salem, Jimmy Boo<strong>the</strong>, Floyd, Estelle Shelor, Christiansburg, Jean Huff, Indian Valley,<br />

Christ<strong>in</strong>e Horton, Floyd, Joe Boo<strong>the</strong>, Floyd. Funeral services was held Thursday at 11 a.m. from <strong>the</strong> Abundant Life<br />

M<strong>in</strong>istries with <strong>the</strong> Rev. Randall Lawrence and <strong>the</strong> Rev. Rick Shelton officiat<strong>in</strong>g. Burial <strong>in</strong> Highland Memory<br />

Gardens, Dubl<strong>in</strong>. In lieu of flowers <strong>the</strong> family wishes that memorials be made to <strong>the</strong> Primary Class of <strong>the</strong> Abundant<br />

Life M<strong>in</strong>istries, 600 Skyl<strong>in</strong>e Drive, Pulaski, VA 24301. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski.<br />
