JOHNNIE BARRETT JAYNES
ETHELSVILLE, ALA.-Johnnie Barrett Jaynes, 90, died July 13, 2000, at Baptist
Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.
Services were July 16, 2000 at 2 p.m. in the Dowdle funeral Home chapel with the
Reverend Oscar Maddox officiating and the Reverend George Shaw and the
Reverend Jimmy Cooper assisting. Burial was in Andrews Chapel Cemetery in
Pickens County Alabama.
Mr. Jaynes was born to William Jaynes and Emma Whitten Jaynes. He was a
retired farmer and a member of the Woodman of the World for 50 years. He was
also a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Chruch. He was preceded in death by
his wife, Ida Adell Jaynes.
Survivors include: daughters, Shelby Graham of Pilot, Willodean Atkins of Millport,
Ala, Gencie McCann of Alabaster, Ala; sons, Grady Jaynes of West Point and
Earl Jaynes and Mike Jaynes, both of Ethelsville; brother, Willard Jaynes of
Columbus; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Carl Jaynes, Richard Jaynes, Leslie Graham, Alan Goforth,
Russell Brown and Dwight Wharton.
JAMES LANDON MORAN
COPPER HILL-James Landon Moran, 69, passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2000.
Surviving are his wife, Loretta Irene Moran; two sons and wives, Frank and Maxine
Moran, James Terry and Dreama Moran; one daughter and husband, Betty and
Eric Pelton, all of Copper Hill; six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren; two brothers and wives, George and Flossie Moran of Norfolk;
John and Annie Moran of Copper Hill; several nieces and nephews including a
special nephew, Darwayne Moran of Baltimore, Md.
Funeral services were held Friday, August 4, at 1:00 p.m. at Copper Hill United
Methodist church with Reverend Lane S. Spiegner officiating. Interment in
Restvale Cemetery. Arrangements by Wood Funeral Home, Floyd.
GEORGE OWEN SUMNER
BLACKSBURG-George Owen Sumner, 82, passed away Friday, August 4, 2000
at Montgomery Regional Hospital. He was a member of the Christiansburg Church
of the Brethren, a retired security officer from Radford Army Ammunition Plant
with over thirty-three years of service. A veteran of World War II having served in
the U.S. Army he received the Purple Heart, he was a life member of the VFW
and the DAV.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille Sumner; sons and daughters-in-law, Roy Roger
