JOHNNIE BARRETT JAYNES<br />

ETHELSVILLE, ALA.-Johnnie Barrett Jaynes, 90, died July 13, 2000, at Baptist<br />

Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.<br />

Services were July 16, 2000 at 2 p.m. <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Dowdle funeral Home chapel with <strong>the</strong><br />

Reverend Oscar Maddox officiat<strong>in</strong>g and <strong>the</strong> Reverend George Shaw and <strong>the</strong><br />

Reverend Jimmy Cooper assist<strong>in</strong>g. Burial was <strong>in</strong> Andrews Chapel Cemetery <strong>in</strong><br />

Pickens County Alabama.<br />

Mr. Jaynes was born to William Jaynes and Emma Whitten Jaynes. He was a<br />

retired farmer and a member of <strong>the</strong> Woodman of <strong>the</strong> World for 50 years. He was<br />

also a member of M<strong>in</strong>eral Spr<strong>in</strong>gs Baptist Chruch. He was preceded <strong>in</strong> death by<br />

his wife, Ida Adell Jaynes.<br />

Survivors <strong>in</strong>clude: daughters, Shelby Graham of Pilot, Willodean Atk<strong>in</strong>s of Millport,<br />

Ala, Gencie McCann of Alabaster, Ala; sons, Grady Jaynes of West Po<strong>in</strong>t and<br />

Earl Jaynes and Mike Jaynes, both of E<strong>the</strong>lsville; bro<strong>the</strong>r, Willard Jaynes of<br />

Columbus; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.<br />

Pallbearers were Carl Jaynes, Richard Jaynes, Leslie Graham, Alan Goforth,<br />

Russell Brown and Dwight Wharton.<br />

JAMES LANDON MORAN<br />

COPPER HILL-James Landon Moran, 69, passed away Tuesday, <strong>August</strong> 1, 2000.<br />

Surviv<strong>in</strong>g are his wife, Loretta Irene Moran; two sons and wives, Frank and Max<strong>in</strong>e<br />

Moran, James Terry and Dreama Moran; one daughter and husband, Betty and<br />

Eric Pelton, all of Copper Hill; six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and two<br />

great-grandchildren; two bro<strong>the</strong>rs and wives, George and Flossie Moran of Norfolk;<br />

John and Annie Moran of Copper Hill; several nieces and nephews <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g a<br />

special nephew, Darwayne Moran of Baltimore, Md.<br />

Funeral services were held Friday, <strong>August</strong> 4, at 1:00 p.m. at Copper Hill United<br />

Methodist church with Reverend Lane S. Spiegner officiat<strong>in</strong>g. Interment <strong>in</strong><br />

Restvale Cemetery. Arrangements by Wood Funeral Home, Floyd.<br />

GEORGE OWEN SUMNER<br />

BLACKSBURG-George Owen Sumner, 82, passed away Friday, <strong>August</strong> 4, 2000<br />

at Montgomery Regional Hospital. He was a member of <strong>the</strong> Christiansburg Church<br />

of <strong>the</strong> Brethren, a retired security officer from Radford Army Ammunition Plant<br />

with over thirty-three years of service. A veteran of World War II hav<strong>in</strong>g served <strong>in</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> U.S. Army he received <strong>the</strong> Purple Heart, he was a life member of <strong>the</strong> VFW<br />

and <strong>the</strong> DAV.<br />

He is survived by his wife, Lucille Sumner; sons and daughters-<strong>in</strong>-law, Roy Roger<br />
