NOEL F. CONNER<br />

ROANOKE-Elder Noel F. Conner, 87, passed away Friday, September 24, <strong>1999</strong> at his home. He was preceeded <strong>in</strong><br />

death by a daughter, Dianne C. Mitchell, two bro<strong>the</strong>rs, Earl Conner and Shelton Conner and a sister, Lula<br />

Anderson. He was pastor of Countyl<strong>in</strong>e Primitive Baptist Church <strong>in</strong> Floyd, and a retiree of United States Steel<br />

Company with twenty-five years of service. Surviv<strong>in</strong>g are his wife, Nellie H. Conner of Roanoke; two daughters,<br />

Sonora Jean Conner of Roanoke and Arlene and her husband Russell Blev<strong>in</strong>s of Goodview; two grandsons, James<br />

Noel Blev<strong>in</strong>s and Anthony Ray Blev<strong>in</strong>s and wife Patricia all of Montvale; two great-grandsons, Christian Conner<br />

Blev<strong>in</strong>s and Noah Nathaniel Blev<strong>in</strong>s; two bro<strong>the</strong>rs, Aaron Conner of Roanoke, Calv<strong>in</strong> Conner and wife, Doris of<br />

Salem; a sister-<strong>in</strong>-law, Ida Conner of Portsmouth. Funeral services were Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral<br />

Home <strong>in</strong> Floyd with Elders Lane Carter, Larry Hollandsworth and Junior Conner officiat<strong>in</strong>g. Interment was <strong>in</strong><br />

Countyl<strong>in</strong>e Church Cemetery.<br />

WILLIS-Clarence Lester Radford, age 30, passed away at his home Thursday, Sept. 23, <strong>1999</strong>. Surviv<strong>in</strong>g are: his<br />

fa<strong>the</strong>r, Jimmy L. Radford, Canton NC; mo<strong>the</strong>r, Novella Lawson, Ararat; grandmo<strong>the</strong>r, Elsie Radford, Floyd; three<br />

sisters, Cynthia Ramous, Mt. Airy, NC, Barbara Davis, Mt. Airy, NC; Teresa Radford, Roanoke, L<strong>in</strong>da Sue<br />

Radford, Powhatan; bro<strong>the</strong>r, Mark Lawson, Ararat. Funeral services were held Sunday, Sept. 26 at 2:00 p.m. at<br />

Gardner Funeral Home with Rev. S.G. Bolt officiat<strong>in</strong>g. Interment followed <strong>in</strong> Williams Cemetery.<br />

CHECK-Betty Jane Akers Rierson, 58, passed away Wednesday, September 22, <strong>1999</strong>. Surviv<strong>in</strong>g are two sons and<br />

a daughter-<strong>in</strong>-law, John W. Rierson of Ab<strong>in</strong>gdon, Frank W. Jr. and Eve Rierson of Check, a daughter and son-<strong>in</strong>law,<br />

Bertha and Alan R. Stanley of Copper Hill; two grandchildren, Dust<strong>in</strong> and Kelly Stanley; bro<strong>the</strong>rs and sisters,<br />

Greenberry Akers, Noah Akers and Henry Akers all of Floyd and Russell Akers of Willis; three sisters, Robert<strong>in</strong>e<br />

Clemmons of Floyd, Mary Akers of Hillsville and L<strong>in</strong>da Duncan of Christiansburg. Funeral services were Saturday<br />

at 11:00 a.m. at Wood Funeral Home <strong>in</strong> Floyd with Elder W.T. Conner officiat<strong>in</strong>g. Interment <strong>in</strong> Salem Church<br />

NANCY DILLON HARMAN<br />

FLOYD-Nancy Dillon Harman, 90, passed away Sunday, Sept. 19, <strong>1999</strong>, <strong>in</strong> an Alexandria hospital. She was<br />

predeceased by her husband, Elliot A. Harman. She was a member of Fall<strong>in</strong>g Branch United Methodist Church,<br />

member of <strong>the</strong> Floyd Courthouse Chapter, D.A.R. and an early member of <strong>the</strong> Floyd Home<br />

Demonstration Club. Surviv<strong>in</strong>g are: two daughters and <strong>the</strong>ir husbands, Elnora and Robert Markle of Alexandria,<br />

Evelyn and Chester Janney of Floyd; two sons and <strong>the</strong>ir wives, Aust<strong>in</strong> and Gaye Harman of Floyd, Harry and Hazel<br />

Harman of Boones Mill; six grandchildren and n<strong>in</strong>e great-grandchildren; five bro<strong>the</strong>rs, Harman Dillon of<br />

Greensboro, N.C., Persh<strong>in</strong>g Dillon of Hartwood, Clyde Dillon of Mart<strong>in</strong>sille, Jabe Dillon of Floyd, Alton Dillon of<br />

Newcastle; a sister, Treva Harman of Floyd. Also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were Wednesday at<br />

11:00 a.m. at Wood Funeral Home with Reverend Lawrence Nuckolls officiat<strong>in</strong>g.Interment <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Howell<br />

Cemetery.<br />
