Materials characterization A powder metallurgy MMC with the Al6061 matrix reinforced by 10% SiC particles is also used for this investigation. The mean particle size is about 100 µm. The matrix powder size is about 40 µm. The extrusion ratio was 10:1. The PM MMC was supplied in the shape of a rod with a diameter 25 mm by IFAM (Germany).
