3.6. Education and vocational orientation
Children and young people discern their vocation and are able to turn it into a profession. In
this process, they are optimally promoted and supported according to their potentials and
strengths and can find a highly qualitative offer of educational and vocational orientation in
Styria.
Principles and Contents
- The accompanying offers of educational and vocational orientation follow the principles
of lifelong learning. They focus on young people’s interests, abilities and potentials and
aim to contribute to a best possible individual and professional development by
accompanying them.
- The offers in the field of educational and vocational orientation in Styria will be presented
online in a way so that they are clear and understandable for children and young people
- There follows an improved coordination and consultation of existing offers – gaps in
offers will be filled, innovative approaches will be tested and promoted
Target groups
- Fairness in the promotion of talents and qualifications of girls and boys as well as the
choice of professions is very important to us
- In the context of life environment orientation, parents are addressed through
educational parental programmes as important supporters in the career choice of young
people
- Workers of educational parental programmes are sensitized and supported in the
development of the programmes
Regionality
- The representation of educational and vocational orientation offers is prepared
specifically according to the regions
- Regional coordination platforms are established
Quality and criteria for eligibility
- Education for multipliers: workers of open youth work will be qualified to conduct offers
in the context of educational and vocational orientation by themselves or to function as a
contact person for appropriate offers
- Quality criteria are constantly reflected and discussed involving all relevant stakeholders
Cooperation and networking
- Educational and vocational orientation is interface work. Business associations,
educational institutions and political decision makers have different perspectives and
specific offers. They should be agreed on in the interests of children and young people
- Experts of educational (parental) programmes and other fields of action of children and
youth work are integrated in the development of strategies and concrete actions
