BABY MAMA Successful and single businesswoman Kate Holbrook has fi nally determined
she’s ready to become a mom. But her plan is thrown a curve ball after she discovers she has
only a million-to-one chance of getting pregnant. Enter South Philly working girl Angie Ostrowiski
who becomes her unlikely surrogate. After they learn that Angie’s pregnant, Kate goes into
nesting mode: reading childcare books, baby-proofi ng the apartment and researching top preschools.
Things get crazy when Angie loses her apartment and moves in with Kate. In a comic

HAROLD AND KUMAR ESCAPE FROM GUANTANAMO BAY The same morning that Harold

adventures of the pot-smoking duo as they try to outrun authorities who suspect them

of making a bomb for the bad guys, using his intelligence and ingenuity, Tony secretly builds a
high-tech suit of armor and escapes captivity. Gwyneth Paltrow co-stars as his secretary, “Pepper”
Potts, Jeff Bridges plays Obadiah Stane while the gritty Terrence Howard fi lls the role of
Jim “Rhodey” Rhodes, one of Stark’s colleagues, whose military background leads him to help
in the formation of the suit. Stark discovers a deadly conspiracy that could destabilize the entire
globe, and dons his powerful new suit on a mission to stop the villains and save the world.as

MADE OF HONOR In this romantic comedy, Patrick “Mr. McDreamy” Dempsey stars as Tom

doesn’t give in and propose to Claire before she fi nds a less procrastinating suitor. Enter Colin,

SPEED RACER The Matrix masterminds Andy and Larry Wachowski bring Tatsuo Yoshida’s
classic 1960s-era hit to the big screen with this family-friendly story of a young racecar driver
who takes on the mysterious Racer X in a custom-made, gadget-loaded speed machine named
the Mach 5. Speed Racer (Emile Hirsch) is the kind of driver that every wheelman wishes he
could be: a natural winner who always fi nds himself crossing the fi nish line with a comfortable
lead. Slamming pedal to the metal and born to race cars, Speed Racer is aggressive, instinctive
and, most of all, fearless. Speed is top driver in the family racing business, led by his father,
Pops Racer, the designer of Speed’s thundering Mach 5. When Speed turns down an offer from
Royalton Industries, he not only infuriates the company’s owner but uncovers a terrible secret

WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS... Two strangers (Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher) fi nd themselves
wed and in bed after a wild night of Las Vegas shenanigans. When they both recover,
they fi nd out that Jack won $3 million with Joy’s quarter the night before. The game is on as the
two greedily vie for the loot and learn that they have to spend six months as wife and husband
if they are to see a penny of their winnings. Eventually, they discover that maybe this ill-planned

INDIANA JONES: THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL Feel like a teenager again and relive your past
back to when you fi rst met everyone’s favorite archeologist adventurer. Harrison Ford returns for another
globe-trotting trek as George Lucas and Steven Spielberg team with screenwriter David Koepp to bring Indiana
Jones back to the big screen after nearly 20 years. The year is 1957 and Indiana Jones is thrust back in action,
bullwhip cracking and this time leaving the desert and venturing into the jungles of South America in a
race against Soviet agents to fi nd the mystical Crystal Skull. Harrison Ford reprises the role that launched the
series with breathtaking stunts and campy hero hijinx. In this, Indy’s fourth adventure, he’ll team with his punk

feature-fi lm continuation that fans all over have been clamoring for. Catch up on the continuing adventures of
Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda as they live their lives in Manhattan four years after the series ended.
Sarah Jessica Parker returns once again as Carrie Bradshaw, the style-maven journalist whose romantic exploits

2008 JACKSONVILLE FILM FESTIVAL Check out the EU Jacksonville Film Festival Guide

THE JACKSONVILLE 48 HOUR FILM PROJECT The 48 Hour Film Project comes to
Jacksonville on the weekend of May 2. Filmmakers from all over the Jacksonville area
will compete to see who can make the best short fi lm in only 48 hours. The winning fi lm
will go up against fi lms from around the world for the title “Best 48 Hour Film of 2008”.
All completed fi lms turned in, even late fi lms, will be screened at the Florida Theatre to
capacity crowds on Tuesday, May 6th, and Wednesday, May 7th beginning at 6:30 pm. Info:

2008 JACKSONVILLE 48 HOUR FILM PROJECT AWARD WINNERS TO BE SHOWN AT
JACKSONVILLE FILM FESTIVAL On May 21st, the fi lms selected from the award winners
by the Jacksonville Film Festival will screen at the festival’s closing night ceremonies in the
Terry Theater at the Times Union Performing Arts Center.
AMATEUR FILM FESTIVAL AT THE LIBRARY: ZOMBIEFEST Last year’s 4th Annual
Amateur Film Festival at the library was a huge success. This year the theme is Zombies! It’s
easy: Simply make a zombie movie no longer than 7 minutes long on VHS or DVD format
and submit it to Scott Adams (sadams@coj.net), Main Library, fi rst fl oor no later than May
10th. Here are the requirements:
1. The fi lm must include the word “butterfi ngers” at least once
2. Keep blood/gore to PG levels
The movies will be shown to the public on May 17th, 2:00, in the Library’s multipurpose
