16 VINTAGES
Divine
intervention
Painstakingly made from delicate grape blossoms
and botanicals, G’Vine gin evokes summer in a glass.
WE SCOUR THE WORLD TO BRING YOU
UNIQUE, HARD-TO-FIND PREMIUM SPIRITS.
THE INSIDE STORY
You might be puzzled at first glance – How do I
pronounce it? What does it mean? – but one
sip of G’Vine and one thing becomes abundantly
clear: this gin is delicious. This is largely due
to the exacting methods that producers Jean
Sébastien Robicquet and Bruno de Reilhac
insist on. Made from grape spirit, and not grain
like many gins, G’Vine (pronounced gee-vine)
is flavoured with fragrant grapevine flowers that
blossom for just a few days in June, before
the grapes develop. They’re handpicked, then
macerated in the grape spirit and distilled
in a small Florentine pot still. Eight other flavourings,
including nutmeg, ginger root, juniper,
cardamom and coriander, are macerated in
distillate separately before being blended
with the floral infusion. Robiquet and de
Reilhac’s company, Eurowinegate, aims to
deliver luxury, which they define as beauty,
creativity, originality, quality and pleasure (not
simply expensive goods), and we think they
do it unequivocally. Oh, and about that label?
Interpret it as you like. Depending on your
focus, it reads either “gin” or “vigne” (french
for vine), and either way, it spells, tastes and
sounds divine.
GOOD TASTE
G’Vine Floraison has been described as “the
very warmth and scent of the arrival of summer”
captured in a bottle, and with good reason.
The delicate, sweet aroma is redolent with floral
botanicals, while the smooth, grassy flavour is
dominated by orange blossom followed by juniper,
cardamom and ginger. This is a well-balanced,
full-bodied, soft gin that will be appreciated by
both gin-drinkers and non-aficionados alike.
Respected spirits critic F. Paul Pacult, in Kindred
Spirits 2, highly recommended this, giving it
a score of HHHHK.
SERVE IT UP
G’Vine Gin is deliciously refreshing on its own,
though it’s rarely consumed this way – it’s really
ideal as the base for a classic G&T, or this variation.
G’Spring
1 ½ oz (45 mL) G’Vine Floraison
3 ½ oz (100 mL) tonic water
3 grapes, halved
Put the grapes, G’Vine and tonic in a highball
glass with ice and stir a few times. Garnish with
a lime twist.
