with a second son
Pedigree is everything in Bordeaux,
especially when the ‘house’ is headed
by a Comte. If the first wine of a
great Bordeaux house is like the eldest
son of the family (level-headed with
much expected of it), then the second
wine is the younger scion. Often
from the same fine lineage but from
younger vines, the second wine
offers as much style yet is easiergoing
and more immediately
approachable. Introduce your guests
to Seigneurs d’Aiguilhe the Younger;
they are bound to be impressed.
2nd Wine of Château d’Aiguilhe
(Vignobles Comtes von Neipperg)
195172 (XD) 750 mL $19.95
TASTING NOTE: Impressive aromas of
cassis, plum, cedar, blueberry and violet
rise from the glass. The palate is dry,
with tremendous structure, balance and
body, with both ripe and tangy fruit
flavours. Notes of blueberry, plum, and
cedar take precedence but are complemented
by an underlying minerality that
adds even greater depth. The finish is lovely
and long. Delicious. Very approachable
now, this will also reward 3+ years in the
cellar. Enjoy it with grilled lamb. (VINTAGES
