DRINKABILITY INDEX
This is intended as a guideline for our customers. The index
reflects the collective view of our purchasing panel. The
length of time that wines should be cellared is a subjective
decision and will depend on individual preferences, cellar
temperature, storage conditions, etc.
1
2 DRINK
3 HOLD:
DRINK NOW: Enjoy and drink. There is no benefit
to cellaring.
OR HOLD: Can be enjoyed now, but may be
matured further by cellaring, depending on individual
preference.
Ideal for further cellaring. This wine may well
be enjoyed now by some but we feel that it will develop
favourably under ideal cellaring conditions.
GIN
G’VINE FLORAISON SMALL BATCH GIN
France, Distilled from Grapes
(Eurowinegate)
Respected spirits critic F. Paul Pacult, in
Kindred Spirits 2 (2008), Highly Recommended
this, giving it a score of HHHHK.
TASTING NOTE: Clear. Bright aromas of cinnamon
bark, dried cherry and tangerine, sandalwood,
and vibrantly floral juniper follow through on a
smooth, supple entry to a glycerous dry-yet-fruity
medium-to-full body with lovely layers of spice,
mint and lemon verbena. Finishes with a long,
lilting fade with a touch of floral talc, pistachio
oil, and pink peppercorns. Deliciously refreshing on
its own or in cocktails. Score: 94 (tastings.com,
aromas of elderflower and lychee follow through
on a soft, supple entry to a fruity, moderately
sweet medium-to-full body with tangy tropical fruit
sweetness and great depth. Finishes with a long,
graceful, herb accented fade. An instant classic
and pure magic for cocktails. Score: 97
SAKE
KADOGUCHI SHUZO HOKKO GENSHU
Nagano Prefecture, Japan
TASTING NOTE: Genshus are undiluted and
have alcohol levels around 20% (regular sakes are
around 15%). Marmite, mushroom, hazelnuts,
pear and apple on the nose. Flavourful and smooth.
Offers a big, round heady palate and is a natural
pairing for sushi and sashimi, or enjoy with barbecued
chicken. Also nice on the rocks. (VINTAGES
