TALBOTT LOGAN CHARDONNAY 2008
Santa Lucia Highlands
TASTING NOTE: The 2008 Chardonnay Logan
(a selection from the Sleepy Hollow Vineyard) is a
slightly fruitier, more structured style of Chardonnay
from Talbott. Light straw-colored, the wine
displays notes of nectarine, kiwi, orange marmalade,
honey, and subtle oak. Cutting a broad swath
across the palate, it is full-bodied, rich, and impressively
endowed. It is the best Talbott Chardonnay
in a number of years. Score: 92 (Robert Parker Jr.,
erobertparker.com, Aug. 2010)
TERLATO PINOT GRIGIO 2008
Russian River Valley, Sonoma County
TASTING NOTE: Very rich, one of the more exotic
Pinot Grigios on the market. Shows the variety’s
crispness and citrus, pear, floral, and spice flavors,
with the honeyed creaminess of a barrelfermented
Chardonnay. Score: 88 (Steve Heimoff,
Wine Enthusiast, Dec. 2009)
VILLA MT. EDEN GRAND RESERVE BIEN
NACIDO CHARDONNAY 2007
Santa Maria Valley
TASTING NOTE: Aromatically rich wine with aromas
of toast, apricot, green plum, guava, melon and
banana. Dry, pleasantly toasty with lots of ripe fruit
and good texture. A nice seam of acidity brings it
into balance. Medium-full bodied, with a lingering
finish. Try with barbecued prawns or butterbrushed
lobster. (VINTAGES panel, June 2011)
CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2008
California
Expect notes of cedar, black fruits, spice and herbs
on the nose. The palate is elegant, and offers a
nice complexity and depth to the fruit along with
well-integrated and nicely balanced tannins and
acidity. Expertly made and tremendously well-priced
wine that really over-delivers on all counts. Enjoy
with grilled meats.
