2. In the event of death, fifty percent (50%) of the cash value of a<br />

member's accumulated sick leave up to two hundred (200) days, computed at the<br />

member's last authorized rate of pay, will be paid to his/her estate or beneficiaries. The<br />

maximum amount payable will be the cash value equivalent of one hundred (I 00) days'<br />

pay.<br />

3. A member who, during the term of the Agreement, officially retires<br />

from the <strong>University</strong>, either after reaching at least fifty-five (55) years of age with ten (10)<br />

years of continuous service to the <strong>University</strong> or after reaching at least sixty (60) years of<br />

age with five (5) years of continuous service to the <strong>University</strong>, shall be paid fifty percent<br />

(50%) of the cash value of the member's accumulated sick leave up to two hundred (200)<br />

days, computed at the member's rate of pay at the time of retirement. The maximum<br />

amount payable will be the cash value equivalent of one hundred (1 00) days' pay.<br />

13 10.2 Use of Paid Sick Leave for Other Reasons<br />

A. Spouse, child, and/or parent illness:<br />

Paid sick leave of up to five (5) full days with written verification may be used for<br />

the illness of a member's spouse or child(ren).<br />

Where the department head approves, taking into consideration the ability to<br />

cover the member's work responsibilities, the quality of alternate services and other<br />

relevant factors, up to three (3) full days of paid sick leave may be used in cases of illness<br />

of a parent. A member may not use more than fifteen ( 15) days per fiscal year under this<br />

prov1s1on.<br />

B. Maternity/Paternity/ Adoption Leave:<br />

Upon w1itten notice, a member may take up to five ( 5) full days of paid sick leave,<br />

upon and as a result of the birth or adoption of his/her child.<br />

A. A member who is absent fi·om work because of the death of a member of the<br />

immediate family shall, upon completion of the appropriate <strong>University</strong> form, be entitled to paid<br />

bereavement leave not to exceed four (4) consecutive, regularly-scheduled days, one (1) of<br />

which must include the day of and attendance at the funeral or bereavement ceremony. Upon<br />

authorization by the Employer, a member may be granted one (I) additional paid day which<br />

shall be charged against the member's accumulated sick leave and must be utilized contiguous<br />

to the bereavement leave days. Immediate family is defined as follows:<br />

I. Spouse;<br />

2. Natural or adopted child;<br />

3. Natural or adopting parent;<br />

4. Step-parent;<br />
