Brilliance and have reduced setup times from<br />

modular soluti<strong>on</strong>s for raw material storage,<br />

loading, unloading, sorting, and stacking.<br />

These features can be added later as budget<br />

allows and producti<strong>on</strong> demands increase.<br />

Venmar chose <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> FPS double storage towers<br />

to keep its line running efficiently. The FPS<br />

has two storage blocks c<strong>on</strong>s<str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g>ting of up to 19<br />

cassettes in each. Material <str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g> stored by <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

Input wag<strong>on</strong> or parts can be removed by <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

Output wag<strong>on</strong>. Input/Output wag<strong>on</strong>s are<br />

used to transport <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> cassettes. Th<str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g> d<strong>on</strong>e by<br />

The Drumm<strong>on</strong>dville plant specializes in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> producti<strong>on</strong> of<br />

kitchen hoods, specifically <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> professi<strong>on</strong>al style hoods. The<br />

hoods are mostly produced from stainless steel and are low<br />

volume, high mix.<br />

and <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>n switch to ano<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r. The FPS storage has<br />

been both productive and efficient for us.”<br />

Performance<br />

And how has <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Shear Brilliance<br />

performed at Venmar since its installati<strong>on</strong> in<br />

December, 2003? Venmar <str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g> currently operating<br />

two shifts, seven days a week. The Shear<br />

Brilliance <str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g> running unmanned part of th<str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

time. “During 2004, we increased producti<strong>on</strong><br />

by 50%,” explains Therrien. “Overall, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Shear<br />

Brilliance has increased our capacity by 300%,<br />

while reducing our cost of manufacturing <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

part by 75%.”<br />
