Multi-Tool technology and
indexing capability have long
been cornerstones of Finn-

Wilson Tool International has collaborated with
Finn-<strong>Power</strong> to enhance <strong>the</strong> capabilities of <strong>the</strong>se
two technologies and develop <strong>the</strong> new R-Series
of indexable multi-tools.
The R-Series reaches new heights in tooling
versatility, providing <strong>the</strong> first fully indexable
Multi-Tool for Finn-<strong>Power</strong> <strong>machine</strong>s. Now you
can punch with any tool, at any angle, with one
easy setup. The result <strong>is</strong> a significant increase in
<strong>machine</strong> and tool optimization. The R-Series <strong>is</strong>
available in both three punch (MT3Ri) and
eight punch (MT8Ri) versions.
Greater Tooling
Capacity and Versatility
Turret capacity gives subcontractors <strong>the</strong>
competitive edge, eliminating non-productive
set-up time and allowing more work to move
through <strong>the</strong> <strong>machine</strong>. The R-Series increases <strong>the</strong>
maximum index tool capacity of a <strong>machine</strong> to
80-eight times better than <strong>the</strong> previous
maximum. In addition, up to 31.75 mm (1.25" )
tools can be used with no limitations to
nibbling.
Flexibility <strong>is</strong> also vital to subcontractors
who must contend with continually changing
requirements of individual jobs. R-Series Multi-
Tools maximize <strong>machine</strong> flexibility by utilizing
<strong>the</strong> <strong>machine</strong>’s standard D indexing station,
allowing <strong>the</strong> fabricator to configure <strong>the</strong> turret as
needed for each job.
For example, one job might need <strong>the</strong> D
indexing station with eight punches loaded in
an MT8Ri. The next job might utilize <strong>the</strong> same

D indexing station with a single 5 mm x 80 mm
rectangle. And <strong>the</strong> next job might require three
punches loaded in an MT3Ri. All of <strong>the</strong>se tools
can be indexed by <strong>the</strong> <strong>machine</strong> to any required
angle, and each of <strong>the</strong>se changes <strong>is</strong> easily made
by <strong>the</strong> <strong>machine</strong> operator in a matter of seconds.
Easier Setup
Given <strong>the</strong> increased flexibility offered by
<strong>the</strong> R-Series Multi-Tools, additional set-up and
configuration time might be expected. However,
Wilson Tool engineers have designed an
innovative product <strong>that</strong> <strong>is</strong> not <strong>only</strong> more
flexible, but also easier to use. Compared to
conventional multi-tools, <strong>the</strong> unique drop-in
style allows punches to be loaded and unloaded
quickly and easily. And because <strong>the</strong>y have fewer
moving parts, R-Series Multi-Tools require less
maintenance.
Long Lasting
Durability and Performance
Every R-Series Multi-Tool <strong>is</strong> made from <strong>the</strong>
strongest, most durable standard tool steel. Each
assembly <strong>is</strong> hardened and prec<strong>is</strong>ion ground for
longer life and greater reliability, resulting in
fewer alignment problems and less downtime.
Targeted lubrication <strong>is</strong> provided by an internal
lubrication system. The MT3Ri utilizes Wilson’s
HP Thick Turret B-size punches and
incorporates punch length adjustment to
increase tool life.

proprietary version of TiCN tool coating <strong>that</strong>
has proven extremely effective in maximizing
<strong>the</strong> life of punching tools in a variety of
applications. Surpassing o<strong>the</strong>r coatings in several
performance categories, Optima improves
productivity and reduces tooling maintenance
costs.
Applying Optima coating drastically
improves surface hardness and substantially
increases tool wear res<strong>is</strong>tance. Optima coated
punches can pierce up to ten times as many
holes as o<strong>the</strong>r coated and uncoated punches.
Material adhesion (galling) <strong>is</strong> reduced up to four
times, and punch tip corner wear <strong>is</strong> decreased
by as much as five times <strong>that</strong> of o<strong>the</strong>r coated or
uncoated punches. Optima also greatly increases
<strong>the</strong> number of hits achieved before <strong>the</strong> first
punch sharpening <strong>is</strong> required.
Slug Retention
Dies for R-Series Multi-Tools are available
in Slug Hugger ® style for positive slug retention.
Slug Hugger dies allow for less galling and slug
packing when punching softer material such as
aluminum and galvanized steel. Slug Hugger
also reduces scrap, costly downtime, and
possible <strong>machine</strong> and tooling damage caused by
slug pulling.
