CONFIGURING E-MAIL MANAGER 1.0 Double-click the setup program in the “\Setup\E-Mail Manager 1.2” folder on the FotoWare CD E-Mail Manager is a separate component that handles the transfer of files via e-mail for Distribution Manager. They talk together via request files; Distribution Manager leaves one request file for E-Mail Manager for every single file to be transmitted. E-Mail Manager is also used by FotoWeb for transferring ordered files via e-mail. To install E-Mail Manager 1.2, insert the FotoWare CD and run the setup.exe program from the Setup\E-Mail Manager 1.2 folder. Alternatively, open the Start-menu, select "Run…" and type ":\setup\e-mail manager 1.2\setup.exe". (Replace "" with the drive-letter of your CD-ROM drive.) Follow the steps in the installation wizard to complete the installation. To start E-Mail Manager, Select Start | FotoWare | E-Mail Manager 1.2. The application will then be ready for configuration. Open "File | Properties" to start configuring E-Mail Manager. To send the mail via SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol - the internet standard), select "Send mail via SMTP". Enter the system administrator name and e-mail address, and go on to the tab "SMTP Settings". There you need to enter the ip-address or network name of your SMTP mailserver, as well as the name and e-mail address of the account that should be used for the transmission. CONFIGURING E-MAIL MANAGER 1.0 If you want a copy of every mail sent via the system to your own mailbox, enter your email address in the "Send CC (carbon copy) to" field. The "Message Content" tab lets you define which subject the mail-message should have, and any body text you want included with the file. Finally, you need to set up the directory for the request files. Go to the "Watched directory" tab. Distribution Manager will place the request files in a folder called "Mail" below its own program directory. If you installed Distribution Manager in "c:\FotoWare\Distribution Manager" (the default), you need to enter "c:\FotoWare\Distribution Manager\Mail" in the Watched Directory field. When you click OK, E-Mail Manager will start waiting for new request files, and process the filetransfers via e-mail automatically. You can check the built-in log of E-Mail Manager to verify that the transfers were successful. Remember that E-Mail Manager will not give you any feedback if the message did not reach its recipient. This can happen if the recipients e-mail address is wrong, or if the receiving mail-server is unavailable. The only fault detection E-Mail Manager can perform, is to see if the message was successfully delivered to the outgoing SMTP server. FotoStation 3.5 User Guide 19
