MASTER OF ARTS - CONCETENTRATION IN COUNSELING PSYCHOLOGY: NON-LICENSURE TRACK<br />

The Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology-Non-Licensure<br />

Track provides a theoretical understanding of the issues related<br />

to the helping profession. This 40 credit hour program does not<br />

prepare the student to work as a counselor or lead to licensure.<br />

Students receive a strong foundation in psychology and in<br />

current theories, data, and research related to counseling<br />

approaches.<br />

Admission Requirements<br />

Admission requirements are the same as admission to the<br />

licensure degree program. Students who were matriculated in<br />

the licensure track program must apply to the non-licensure<br />

track, after consulting with their advisor.<br />

The degree requires successful completion of 10 courses.<br />

Completion of this degree does NOT lead to licensure as a<br />

Mental Health Counselor.<br />

and Practice<br />

CPSY 964 Advanced Principles of Learning and<br />

Development<br />

CPSY 990 Counseling Practicum I<br />

CPSY 991 Counseling Practicum II<br />

Two electives to be chosen from the following (2):<br />

CPSY 910 Group Processes in Counseling<br />

CPSY 919 Problems of Substance Abuse<br />

CPSY 943 Family Counseling<br />

CPSY 947 Lifestyles and Career Development<br />

CPSY 956 Understanding Social Science Research<br />

CPSY 962 Theories and Methods of Psychological Testing<br />

Note: Course substitutions may only be made with approval<br />

from the Program Coordinator and Advisor.<br />
