Mrs. Leah J. [CARNEY] CRAVEN, aged 81, oldest resident of Rochester, died at the home of her son,<br />
Charles Richards, 427 Indiana avenue, at 10 o’clock Friday night. Death was due to influenza and<br />
complications and followed an illness of a few weeks, the last week of which was serious.<br />
<strong>The</strong> deceased was born in Carroll county, Ohio on January 4, 1846 and was the daughter of Martin and<br />
Sarah (CLOVIS) CARNEY. She had resided in this city since 1884 when she moved to this city from<br />
Logansport.<br />
Mrs. Cravens was a member of the Rebecca Lodge, Women’s Relief Corps and the Progressive Club<br />
of this city.<br />
Survivors are the son, Charles RICHARDS; three step-sons, Fred [RICHARDS? CRAVEN?], South<br />
Bend, James [RICHARDS? CRAVEN?] of Colorado and Elmer [RICHARDS? CRAVEN?] of Michigan;<br />
three step-daughters Ruth [RICHARDS? CRAVEN?], Ella [RICHARDS? CRAVEN ?] and Lily<br />
[RICHARDS? CRAVEN?], all of California; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Two sons<br />
preceded their mother in death.<br />
<strong>The</strong> funeral services will be held from the First Evangelical church at 10 a.m. Monday with the Rev. L.<br />
E. SMITH, pastor of the church officiating. Interment will be made in the Citizen’s cemetery at<br />
Frencisville.<br />
Friends may view the body at the Richards home after 4 o’clock Saturday afternoon.<br />

Robert NEIGHBOR, 60, of this city, passed away Saturday afternoon, one o’clock in the Epworth<br />
hospital, South Bend, Ind. Death was attributed to complications and internal injuries. Mr. Neighbor was<br />
injured on Christmas night when he was struck by an automobile driven by Paul RAIFSNIDER, of Goshen,<br />
Ind. <strong>The</strong> accident occurred as the Rochester man was walking westward across State road 31 near the<br />
Teeter grocery, in South Bend.<br />
<strong>The</strong> injured man was taken immediately to the South Bend hospital where he remained in a semiconscious<br />
condition until his death. <strong>The</strong> Goshen motorist stated he did not see Mr. Neighbor until he was<br />
directly in front of the machine.<br />
Mr. Neighbor was born in Belvidere, Ill., on Nov. 20th, 1877 and removed to Rochester in July 1924.<br />
He was the son of Stephen and Alice (THORNBERRY) NEIGHBOR. He was united in marriage to Bertha<br />
BOYD on March 18th, 1920 at Minneapolis, Minn. He was engaged in the insurance business for a long<br />
number of years, and also assisted in the management of the Neighbor Antique shop which is located at<br />
1319 Main street. Mr. Neighbor was a member of the Grace Methodist church, of Chicago.<br />
<strong>The</strong> survivors are his widow, a son Robert [NEIGHBOR, Jr.] and a daughter Jean [NEIGHBOR] at<br />
home; a step-son, Tom HUNT and a step-daughter, Kathryn LITAVECX, both of Chicago.<br />
Private funeral services will be conducted Wednesday morning 830 o’clock, with Rev. T. L.<br />
STOVALL, officiating. Interment will be made in the Secedar cemetery in Lake <strong>County</strong>, Indiana.<br />
Miss Elba V. EDWARDS, aged 59, died at 10:30 p.m. Sunday at the home of Mrs. Sarah<br />
CHAMBERLAIN, 1005 Monroe Street, where she made her home. Death was due to a sudden heart attack.<br />
She was ill but thirty minutes.<br />
<strong>The</strong> deceased was born near Mt. Zion, on February 15, 1877 and was the daughter of Dallas and<br />
Clarissa (WHITTENBERGER) EDWARDS. For many years the deceased lived at
