Monday, February 22, <strong>1937</strong><br />

Clement Earl BRYAN, aged 21 years, passed away Sunday afternoon at two o’clock at the home of his<br />

parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter BRYAN, who reside north of Leiters Ford. <strong>The</strong> young man was a victim of<br />

pneumonia. Clement, who is a senior student at the Purdue university, became ill 17 days ago and was<br />

removed to the home of his parents a little over a week ago, where he was placed in an oxygen tent which<br />

was procured from the Culver Military Academy hospital.<br />

<strong>The</strong> young man, who was a graduate of the Leiters Ford high school, and a former member of the<br />

<strong>Fulton</strong> <strong>County</strong> 4-H club had a host of friends among the young people of this county, and also at Purdue<br />

university where he was most popular in the activities of the university. Clement was a member of the<br />

Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity and was also a member of Purdue University’s Golden Glove boxing team of<br />

1936.<br />

Clement Earl, son of Walter and Almeda BRYAN, was born on a farm in Aubbeenaubbee township on<br />

February 18, 1916. He attended the Leiters Ford grade and high schools and upon graduating entered the<br />

Purdue university, where he was taking a course in Forestry and Military work. Clement would have<br />

graduated with the <strong>1937</strong> class at Purdue.<br />

<strong>The</strong> survivors are his parents, a brother Kennedy [BRYAN] at home; his grandparents, and a number<br />

of aunts and uncles.<br />

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at two o’clock at the Leiters Ford Methodist<br />

church. <strong>The</strong> services will be in charge of Rev. C. V. ROUSH, former pastor and Rev. M. W. CRIDER.<br />

Burial will be made in the Leiters Ford cemetery.<br />

Mrs. Mary E. REESE, former resident of Kewanna, passed away Sunday evening at the home of her<br />

daughter, Mrs. Guy Troutman, of 301 E. Pennsylvania street, South Bend, Ind. Death resulted from<br />

complications following an illness of several weeks’ duration. Mrs. Reese had resided in South Bend, since<br />

last September.<br />

Mrs. Reese was born on March 21st, 1857, and had been a resident of Kewanna for over 19 years. Her<br />

husband Frank REESE, preceded her in death 15 years ago. She was a member of the Methodist church.<br />

<strong>The</strong> survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Maude CONRAD, and Mrs. Guy TROUTMAN, both of South<br />

Bend, Ind.; three grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. A. P. LEFFEL, of Twelve Mile, Ind.<br />

Funeral services will be held in Kewanna Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock with Rev. O. R. SIDES<br />

officiating. Interment will be made in the Kewanna I.O.O.F. cemetery. <strong>The</strong> body will lie in state at the<br />

Harrison mortuary until the time of the funeral.<br />

Tuesday, February 23, <strong>1937</strong><br />

Mrs. Bertha LEVI and Ferd HEILBRUN received word today of the death of their sister-in-law, Mrs.<br />

Joe HEILBRUN which occurred at her home in Kansas City, Mo., Monday evening. <strong>The</strong> deceased had<br />

often visited in Rochester and has a number of friends in this city.<br />

Heart trouble and complications caused the death Sunday of Mrs. Johanna Elizabeth SCHEURER, 66,<br />

of Monterey, one of Pulaski county’s oldest residents. Mrs. Scheurer died at St. Joseph’s hospital, South<br />

Bend, after an illness of four months. She had been a teacher in the Pulaski county schools for 15 years.<br />

During her last year she had resided with her son, George, South Bend.
