Description of System Components
System Galaxy 7 consists of both software and hardware components. This manual focuses on
the software components, which are listed on the right side of the table below. Note that the PCs
and their operating systems are considered a part of the software components. PC and Server
requirements are found in a later section of this chapter.
The System Galaxy software and GCS Services utilize TCP/IP (LAN/WAN) for connectivity.
NEW
• The PC’s/Workstation or Servers use TCP/IP connections
• The 508i/502i controllers can use RS232 Direct Connect or TCP/IP
• The 600-series controllers use TCP/IP (SG 7.02 or higher)
NOTE | The SG-7.01 (or higher) is exclusively compatible with i-Series controllers (502i/508i).
NOTE | System Galaxy 7.02 (or higher) is also compatible with 600-series controllers.
NOTE | The hardware components are mentioned here for clarity and continuity. The System
Galaxy Hardware Manual covers the requirements, setup, and functionality of the hardware
components.
