The options should be set as follows:
Software Manual|System Galaxy 7
Checked: Change backup transaction log naming convention ( -n )
Checked but disabled: Rename and start new transaction log (-r )
Checked: Log output to file (-c)
Unchecked: Main Database Only
Unchecked: Transaction Log file Only
Unchecked: Write File Only
Checked: Operate without confirming actions (-y)
The “Default Log File Location” should be the System Galaxy Logfiles folder. Use the Search
button to find this folder if the location does not display the correct folder.
TERM: Log File: a text file that stores a record of the success or failure of each backup
attempt. The file will continue to grow as each backup is recorded.
In the “Backup to Folder:” field, enter the location to which you want the backup files saved. Use
the button at the end of field to browse to the location.
CAUTION If your database is on a network server, you may save the backup to a
network client, as long as that client will be running when the backup occurs.
If you choose a location on the same PC as the existing database, be sure to
make a copy of the backup files onto a different PC or some other media
(disks, CD-W, tape) in case the entire PC becomes disabled.
In the schedule section, check the day or days of the week on which you want a backup to be
taken. At the end of the list of days, select the time at which you want the backup to occur.
When finished, click the Save Settings button if you wish to save the schedule and set it to run
automatically.
If you only wish to take a backup at this time without saving the settings, click the Backup Now
button.
When finished, click the Close button.
Setting up a Partial Backup
To set up partial automatic database backups in System Galaxy, follow the menu selections
Utilities >> Backups >> Sybase ASA Database.
