System<br />

Th<strong>is</strong> Wh -? system helps to develop your child’s understanding of the different types<br />

of situations that make up any <strong>play</strong> activity especially when <strong>play</strong>ing with more than<br />

one person. The “Wh” questions enable children to focus on one particular aspect of<br />

their <strong>play</strong>, to think about what <strong>is</strong> happening and to make dec<strong>is</strong>ions based on the<br />

answers to the “wh” question. The number and variety of these questions can be<br />

gradually increased as your child’s understanding develops.<br />

Where?<br />

The <strong>play</strong> area must have clearly defined and clearly v<strong>is</strong>ible boundaries. Th<strong>is</strong> will<br />

help clarify for your child:<br />

• Where the <strong>play</strong> <strong>is</strong> to take place?<br />

• Where they are to not <strong>play</strong>?<br />

Your child can see clearly where to <strong>play</strong>, and where to stay whilst <strong>play</strong>ing<br />

Clarifies where the equipment <strong>is</strong> kept:<br />

• The equipment/toys are always kept in their own designated place.<br />

• The equipment and toys are always put there at the end of <strong>play</strong>.
