The Provincial <strong>Government</strong> will establish idle–free zones around<br />

public buildings to reduce emissions <strong>of</strong> greenhouse gases <strong>and</strong><br />

other contaminants.<br />

The Provincial <strong>Government</strong> will conduct a feasibility study for<br />

development <strong>of</strong> commuter parking areas at key junctions.<br />

The Provincial <strong>Government</strong> will study the energy efficiency <strong>of</strong><br />

provincial ferry fleet in an effort to reduce fuel consumption <strong>and</strong><br />

greenhouse gas emissions.<br />

As noted in the <strong>Energy</strong> <strong>Plan</strong>, new provincial ferries are being designed<br />

<strong>and</strong> built to incorporate the latest energy–efficient technologies.<br />

The Provincial <strong>Government</strong> will continue to provide funding for the<br />

The Provincial <strong>Government</strong> will promote energy efficiency in public<br />

industry <strong>and</strong> stakeholders to promote local research initiatives on<br />

The Provincial <strong>Government</strong> will Implement an energy plan to ensure<br />

that all energy sources are used first to provide a reliable, affordable<br />

supply <strong>of</strong> power for domestic use <strong>and</strong> for Province wide economic<br />

development, <strong>and</strong> then to take advantage <strong>of</strong> business opportunities<br />

in export markets to sell energy that is excess to our needs on<br />

terms that secure maximum benefits for the Province.<br />

These action items are at various stages <strong>of</strong> implementation <strong>and</strong> others have<br />

been incorporated into the <strong>Energy</strong> <strong>Plan</strong>.<br />
