Earthquake relief coanrdttees were formed in several areas in the
U. S. @ of those reported to DRC was in Denver, Co1orad.0,
and arrange~nents were made for this pup to send the clothing
and other supplies it had collected to Seventh-Cey Adventist
Welfare Senrice in New York for baling and packing for airblift .
The Iranian massy made the necessary ammgements for trmporting
it to Iran. !be quantity and value of these contrqbutions
has not been reported.

Ccmnittee of Ann AFbor, Mchiggm. They collected clothing;
and money, but no other Information was reported to DRC.
A special Earthquake Relief Fund was established by the Ccmul
General of Iran through the Iran Foundation in New York.
A White House news release dated September 25, 1968 annourlced
that Mrs. Lyndon Be Johnson had accepted the Honorary
Chairmanship of an American carmittee forthe relief of
victims of the mcent earthquakes in Iran. Mr. John M e
McCloy, former President of the World Bank, was to assist the
First Lady as Chairman, and Ralph Becker, msident of the
Iran-Am?rican Society, as Secretary. The Camittee was to
be known as the Imn Ehergency Fieconstruction and Rehabilitation
Camnittee with a planned naticmwide appeal for funds:,
