In Biafra, CWS channeled its material aid thmugh the ICRC airlift frcm<br />

Femdo Po and the Caritas and Nordchurchaid, later Joint Church Aid,<br />

from Sao Tome. CWS is a member of Joint Church AiUUSA which owns the<br />

four G97G planes purchased from the U. S. Government and used in the JCAinternational<br />

airlift at Sao 'Ibme. See JCA/USA in this section. CWS<br />

contributed fluids to JCA/USA to help in lllaintenance and other expenses of<br />

these planes and also gave substantial financial support toward the expenses<br />

of the JCA international airlift by channeling cash contributions through<br />

the World Council of Churches, to Nordchurchaid and to Canairerelief.<br />

From January, 1968, through June, 1969, CWS arranged for shipment of 3,703<br />

tons of supplies to Lagos for FMG areas and 3,636 tons to Biaf'ra, of which<br />

5,636 tons were USG P. L. 480 food camnodities for which dollar value is<br />

given in the USG section of this report. The rerrainder of 1,703 tons were<br />

provided frwn CWS own resources and private donations made through CWS.<br />

Christian Children's Fund, Inc.<br />

The Christian Children's Fund began emergency relief in 1965<strong>3.</strong> In cooperation<br />

with the Oxford Cormittee for Famine Relief (OXFAM), CCF supports a medical<br />

team of 10 persons including a physician, nurses, and other health workers<br />

in Itu, Biafra. The team assists in the cam, feeding and medication of<br />

some 500 cases per day in tempow- clinics and in an intensive care center
