3.11 The Government Sp<strong>on</strong>sored Schemes have got very low take-<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>f mainly due to n<strong>on</strong>-availability <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

borrowers / applicati<strong>on</strong>s and lack <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> awareness. As <strong>on</strong> March 31, 2007, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> total exposure since incepti<strong>on</strong> was<br />

Rs.10.25 lakh under PMRY (39 cases) as against annual targets <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> 50 cases each year and Rs.15.95 lakh<br />

under SGSY (75 cases). No applicati<strong>on</strong> was received from a few Islands.<br />

The DRI advances are just Rs.8,000. Banks and Industries Department have to take initiatives to<br />

organize awareness programme <strong>on</strong> PMRY which will encourage unemployed youth/women to start new<br />

business entrepreneurs.<br />

3.12 Though majority <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> populati<strong>on</strong> is engaged in agricultural activity all <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> eligible farmers are not<br />

covered under KCCs.<br />

As <strong>on</strong> March 31, 2007 <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> total credit under KCC was at Rs.0.86 crore and formed 4.13% <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> total<br />

advances. As <strong>on</strong> September 30,2007 around 600 KCCs for a total amount <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Rs.2.15 crores have been issued<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> which around 500 KCC holders have been brought under Pers<strong>on</strong>al Accident Insurance. It is, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>refore,<br />

suggested that Department <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Agriculture has to identify all <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> eligible farmers as well <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> farmers who have<br />

not been issued KCCs and furnish <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> list <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> such farmers to banks so as to cover all eligible farmers under<br />

KCCs.
