Government Sponsored Schemes
3.11 The Government Sponsored Schemes have got very low take-<strong>of</strong>f mainly due to non-availability <strong>of</strong>
borrowers / applications and lack <strong>of</strong> awareness. As on March 31, 2007, <strong>the</strong> total exposure since inception was
Rs.10.25 lakh under PMRY (39 cases) as against annual targets <strong>of</strong> 50 cases each year and Rs.15.95 lakh
under SGSY (75 cases). No application was received from a few Islands.
The DRI advances are just Rs.8,000. Banks and Industries Department have to take initiatives to
organize awareness programme on PMRY which will encourage unemployed youth/women to start new
business entrepreneurs.
Kissan Credit Card
3.12 Though majority <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> population is engaged in agricultural activity all <strong>the</strong> eligible farmers are not
covered under KCCs.
As on March 31, 2007 <strong>the</strong> total credit under KCC was at Rs.0.86 crore and formed 4.13% <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> total
advances. As on September 30,2007 around 600 KCCs for a total amount <strong>of</strong> Rs.2.15 crores have been issued
<strong>of</strong> which around 500 KCC holders have been brought under Personal Accident Insurance. It is, <strong>the</strong>refore,
suggested that Department <strong>of</strong> Agriculture has to identify all <strong>the</strong> eligible farmers as well <strong>the</strong> farmers who have
not been issued KCCs and furnish <strong>the</strong> list <strong>of</strong> such farmers to banks so as to cover all eligible farmers under
KCCs.
