SPRING FESTIVAL OF ONE ACTS – on April 28, 29 and 30 at 7:00 pm in the <strong>Scarlett</strong> <strong>The</strong>atre. Th<strong>is</strong><br />
semester’s drama production <strong>is</strong> a collection <strong>of</strong> teacher-directed and student-directed one-act plays.<br />
DRAMA FESTIVAL – on May 6 – 8. Students participate in Workshops and perform One Acts at the<br />
University <strong>of</strong> Calgary.<br />
ART SHOW – in the Main Hallway May 28 – June 6.<br />
FESTIVAL OF WORDS 2007-2008<br />
LIBRARY<br />
<strong>The</strong> fifth annual Festival <strong>of</strong> Words will be held from April 14 th <strong>to</strong> 17 th . <strong>The</strong> festival, which <strong>is</strong> a celebration <strong>of</strong><br />
communication in all its forms, will focus on a return <strong>to</strong> its literary roots as well as our local h<strong>is</strong><strong>to</strong>ry,<br />
environment, and our life in Calgary. Students, school staff, interested parents and other community members<br />
will be invited <strong>to</strong> hear local presenters who use words, sounds, and v<strong>is</strong>uals <strong>to</strong> communicate. Local media<br />
celebrities, well-known authors, new writers, academics, business people, v<strong>is</strong>ual art<strong>is</strong>ts, ac<strong>to</strong>rs, and musicians will<br />
be invited. Students will attend presentations as part <strong>of</strong> a class or individually with the perm<strong>is</strong>sion <strong>of</strong> their<br />
teachers.<br />
<strong>The</strong> students will also have the opportunity <strong>to</strong> enter a number <strong>of</strong> related contests and win valuable prizes. Th<strong>is</strong><br />
event <strong>is</strong> once again being funded by our <strong>School</strong> Council. <strong>The</strong>ir recognition <strong>of</strong> the importance <strong>of</strong> th<strong>is</strong> school-wide<br />
celebration <strong>is</strong> greatly appreciated by the students and staff <strong>of</strong> <strong>Scarlett</strong>.<br />
Multicultural radio station helping CBE<br />
communicate with ESL families<br />
<strong>The</strong> CBE has an incredibly diverse and culturally rich student population. Did you know there are over 110<br />
languages spoken by families <strong>of</strong> CBE students? It <strong>is</strong> important <strong>to</strong> the CBE <strong>to</strong> communicate effectively with all<br />
<strong>of</strong> our families, and we are continually striving <strong>to</strong> find innovative ways <strong>to</strong> do just that.<br />
Communications Services and the Department <strong>of</strong> Community Engagement and Operational Planning are pleased <strong>to</strong><br />
have establ<strong>is</strong>hed a relationship with Fairchild Radio station in our attempt <strong>to</strong> broaden communications with<br />
families who speak Engl<strong>is</strong>h as a second language. Fairchild Ratio provides multicultural programs in 19 languages<br />
<strong>to</strong> more that 16 ethnic communities in Calgary and area.
