We are very excited to be involved in this project and are looking forward to helping all students attend their
graduation banquet.

If you are able to donate a previously loved gown or recommend someone for either project please contact
a counselor, Ms Dyer, Ms. Williams, Ms. Gallant or Ms. Adams. You can also just drop off the gowns at
the main office and we will deliver them to the Project.
BLOOD DONOR CLINIC
March 6 th was the 4 th annual Blood Donor Clinic at Dr. E.P. Scarlett High School. With great enthusiasm,
students quickly filled the available appointments, hoping to help out their fellow Calgarians. We were able to
collect 70 units of blood in 5 hours, with only a few students fainting. The nurses and staff were pleased with
the day and mentioned that our students were “a pleasure to work with”. Thanks to the students and volunteers
of Ms. Kowalewski’s grade 11 mentorship class – this year’s clinic was another success!
GOOD FOOD BOX
In January Dr. E. P. Scarlett began offering the Good Food Box service at the school. The Good Food Box is a
Community Kitchen Program where families/individuals can purchase fresh fruit and vegetables at a low cost.
The service buys fruit and vegetables from wholesalers and then provides the products at a lower cost because
it does not have the overhead that would come with a regular grocery store.
Families/individuals must pay for the boxes which come in 3 different sizes (small for $15, medium for $20 and
large for $25). There is no limit of the number of boxes an individual or family can buy each month and there
are no income limitations for this program. Payment for the boxes must be received, in cash, prior to the order
date and boxes would need to be picked up the day they are delivered to the school.
Jackie Guy (School Family Liaison) and Tanya Miller (Learning Strategies) are working together to provide this
service within the school. For further questions or to order a box please contact Jackie at 281-3366 x 2145.
Although you do not get a choice of what is in the box, which contains seasonal fruit and vegetables and varies
monthly, a good amount and selection of produce comes in each one.
