Nçpheline Denison Mines Limited in 1960 attempted to determine the nepheline potential of the feldspathoidal syenites from two areas located south of Highway 17 and west of Red Sucker Cove. However,. nepheline separation proved hard to achieve, and iron content of the concentrate was too high, so the project was abandoned.
