Legal Consideration<br />

There are no known legal obstacles to proceeding as recommended.<br />

Financial Consideration<br />

The current fee structure does not allow for a self-sufficient (self-funding) golf course.<br />

The proposed fee increases should yield and increase in annual revenue <strong>of</strong> approximately<br />

$70,000.00 making the golf course self sufficient with no subsidy required.<br />

Options<br />

This agenda item will be presented at the <strong>November</strong> 4 th , 2010 <strong>City</strong> Commission meeting<br />

for action. The <strong>City</strong> Commission has the following options:<br />

Option 1: Approve <strong>City</strong> Staff’s proposed fees for 2011.<br />

Option 2: Approve a portion <strong>of</strong> the proposed fees.<br />

Option 3: Adjust any or all fees to lower or higher levels as deemed necessary.<br />

Option 4: The <strong>City</strong> Commission may choose to leave the fees at the current levels with no<br />

changes.<br />

Recommendation<br />

The Golf Course Advisory Board and <strong>City</strong> Staff recommend approval <strong>of</strong> the proposed<br />

fees as listed on Attachment “A” for the Fort <strong>Hays</strong> Municipal Golf Course.<br />

Action Requested<br />

<strong>City</strong> Staff recommends increasing Weekday Greens Fees to $17.00, Weekend Greens<br />

Fees to $20.00, Twilight Greens Fees to $10.00, Single Memberships to $400.00, Couple<br />

Memberships to $500.00, Family Memberships to $600.00, Trail Fees to $75.00, Gas<br />

Cart Shed Rentals to $200.00 and Electric Cart Shed Rentals to $225.00 for the 2011 golf<br />

season.<br />

Attachment “A” showing current FHMGC fees, proposed FHMGC fees and<br />

average fees <strong>of</strong> other courses in the state.<br />

Attachment “B” showing impact <strong>of</strong> the proposed fees increases based on 2009<br />

participation.<br />

The minutes <strong>of</strong> the October 4 th , 2010 Golf Course Advisory Board meeting<br />

showing a unanimous vote to proceed with the proposed fee increases.<br />
