9. A 24-hour urine collection for protein and creatinine is not needed for quantitation of proteinuria, as it is<br />

more cumbersome for patients and prone to collection errors.<br />

10. 24-hour urine collection may be considered for: pregnant women, extreme age and weight, malnutrition,<br />

skeletal muscle disease, paraplegia or quadriplegia, patients with a vegetarian diet and rapidly changing<br />

kidney function.<br />
