SECTION 28: PHYSICAL FACILITIES, WASTE PROCESS<strong>IN</strong>G SERVICES<br />

A. Hazardous Waste and Antineoplastic Agent Disposal. The facility shall have<br />

policies and procedures for the identification, segregation, labeling, storage,<br />

transport and disposal of hazardous waste. The policies and procedures shall<br />

conform with the latest edition of Hazardous Waste Management Regulation 23,<br />

Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality, Little Rock, Arkansas. Within<br />

the facility, hazardous waste, especially antineoplastic agents, shall be labeled in<br />

a manner that it shall be easily recognized from all other waste. The facility shall<br />

compile a list of all antineoplastic agents used in the facility. The facility shall<br />

have policies and procedures for the clean up of spills, decontamination and<br />

treatment of personnel exposed to hazardous waste and antineoplastic agents.<br />

B. Regulated Medical Waste (Infectious Waste) Disposal. The facility shall have<br />

policies and procedures for the identification, segregation, labeling, storage,<br />

transport and disposal of regulated medical waste. All policies and procedures<br />

shall conform to the latest edition of the Rules and Regulations Pertaining to the<br />

Management of Medical Waste from Generators and Health Care Related<br />

Facilities, Arkansas Department of Health and Human Services, Little Rock,<br />

Arkansas. The facility shall have policies and procedures for the clean up of<br />

spills, and for decontamination and treatment of personnel exposed to regulated<br />

medical waste.<br />

C. Solid Waste Disposal (Non-Infectious Waste). The facility shall have policies and<br />

procedures for the identification, segregation, labeling, storage, transport and<br />

disposal of solid waste. Policies and procedures shall conform with the latest<br />

edition of the Solid Waste Management Regulation 22, Arkansas Department of<br />

Environmental Quality, Little Rock, Arkansas.<br />

D. Other Waste. The facility shall have policies and procedures for the<br />

identification, segregation, labeling, storage, transport, and disposal of any waste<br />

not specifically mentioned in this section.<br />
