SECTION 32: PHYSICAL FACILITIES, ELECTRICAL ST<strong>AND</strong>ARDS<br />

A. Lighting.<br />
1. Approaches to buildings and parking lots, and all occupied spaces within<br />
buildings shall have fixtures that can be illuminated as necessary.<br />
2. Patient rooms shall have general lighting and night lighting.<br />
3. Nursing unit corridors shall have general illumination with provisions for<br />
reducing light levels at night.<br />
4. Egress and exit lighting shall comply with NFPA 101.<br />
B. Nurse/Patient Communication Station.<br />
1. A nurse/patient communication system shall be provided for each patient<br />
bedside as in accordance with the functional program.<br />
2. An emergency call system shall be provided in each patient’s toilet, bath<br />
and shower room.<br />
C. Emergency electrical generators shall have a minimum 48 hours of on-site fuel.<br />
D. All health care occupancies shall be provided with a fire alarm system in<br />
accordance with NFPA 101 and NFPA 72.<br />
