Finding Your Passion
Kerri Pottharst, ICMS Ambassador
I was always into sport. I tried Athletics, High Jump (I’m 6’ tall) – but stopped that when I fell on my head
one day and nearly broke my neck! I tried Netball at school, but that never went anywhere. I tried
Basketball, but I didn’t like running much. I liked Tennis, but there weren’t any opportunities to go far with
that. I tried Swimming, but found it really difficult as I tended to sink too quickly. One night my older
brother asked me to fill in at a social Indoor Volleyball competition: “We need 6 players on the court when
the whistle blows. Once that happens, you can step to the side and we’ll play”. But rather than stepping to
the side, I stayed on and played. I was 15 years old and this is how my passion for Volleyball began.
Have you found your Passion yet? What do you really love doing? If you’re not sure, keep trying all sorts of
things...
“Excelling in athletics is great, but it is only one part of me...it’s only the tip of the iceberg in terms of what I
plan to accomplish.”
