Ledson Winery Honors Baseball Hall of Famer Orlando Cepeda

Hot on the heels of Opening Day for the 2010 baseball season,
Ledson Winery (www.ledson.com) unveils its newest wine collaboration
featuring legendary former baseball player and Hall of
Famer, Orlando Cepeda. Cepeda will be at Ledson Winery on
April 17 signing his commemorative bottles for baseball fans,
Ledson visitors and Ledson wine club members. Proceeds from
the sale of Ledson’s “Baby Bull” Zinfandel will benefit the local
Harmony Foundation for Children as well as the San Francisco
Junior Giants Program.
Orlando Cepeda, known on the field as the “Baby Bull,” was
one of the first Latino baseball players to enter the major leagues.
He was the unanimous Rookie of the Year playing for the San
Francisco Giants in 1958. A seven-time All Star, Cepeda was the
Comeback Player of the Year in 1966 as well as the unanimous
National League MVP in 1967. He has appeared in three World
Series, is the first Latino to win home run and RBI titles and was
the first player to sign an exclusive designated hitter contract. After 17
years in the Major Leagues, Cepeda was elected to the Baseball Hall of
Fame in 1999. Orlando Cepeda and Roberto Clemente are the only
two Puerto Ricans in the Hall of Fame.

been friends ever since,” exclaimed Cepeda. “We both feel very
strongly about raising money for kids, plus we really enjoy the wine
we made!”
Since his retirement from baseball, Orlando Cepeda has given his
time to charities. He is known for his humanitarian efforts on behalf
of children, working with the Crohns and Colitis Foundation of
America and as a baseball ambassador. Steve Ledson found a
kindred spirit in Cepeda through his thoughtful and selfless
actions over the past few decades. As a tribute to Cepeda’s
generosity and compassion, Ledson is introducing the “Baby
Bull” Zinfandel. Cepeda’s “Baby Bull” Zinfandel is the fourth
bottling of the Harmony Collection Wines. “We are very excited
to be playing ball with Orlando,” enthused winery owner and
philanthropist Steve Ledson. “As a big fan of the game and of
the on-field talents of Orlando Cepeda we are thrilled he is
joining us for this great fundraising event and supporting the
youth programs we support through the Harmony Foundation.”
Previous high-profile celebrity humanitarians to be honored
include: singer Michael McDonald, actor Jeff Bridges, San Francisco
49er Dwight Clark, and now baseball Hall of Famer Orlando Cepeda.
All proceeds from the Harmony Collection Wines have gone to youth
related organizations.
Orlando Cepeda will be at the winery from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. to
meet fans and sign baseballs or bottles of “Baby Bull” Zinfandel. There
is a signature fee of $15 for Ledson wine club members and $20 for
the general public. Baseballs will be available for signing with a case
purchase. The cost for “Baby Bull” Zinfandel is $68 per bottle and the
wine is available in advance (signed or unsigned) at the Ledson Online
Store at www.ledson.com. Cepeda will also be the honored guest at a
special dinner held at the winery at 7 p.m. Cost for the dinner is $125
and seating is very limited. Reservations for dinner can be made on a
