C. Being prompt for class - Includes not only being in the classroom on<br />

time, but also being equipped with books, paper, writing instruments<br />

and other necessary materials essential to class participation.<br />

D. Conduct - <strong>Student</strong>s are expected to conduct themselves as ladies and<br />

gentlemen at all times while at school or at school sponsored<br />

activities.<br />

E. Cell Phones, Ipods, CD players, MP3 players, radios and other<br />

electronic games or devices and only allowed before and after school.<br />

F. Beepers - By state law, are prohibited in schools.<br />

G. Emergencies - <strong>Student</strong>s should ask to be dismissed from class only in<br />

an emergency. <strong>Student</strong>s may go only to the designated area for<br />

which the teacher gave permission. <strong>Student</strong>s who go to areas beyond<br />

those authorized by the teacher will be considered truant from class.<br />

H. Conflicts - Confrontations between students should be handled in a<br />

positive manner. Physical fighting or verbal abuse will not be<br />

tolerated. <strong>Student</strong>s who believe they have a conflict with another<br />

student or the conflict may lead to a confrontation with another<br />

student should see a principal or counselor in an effort to obtain a<br />

safe and positive way to deal with the issue. Fighting on school<br />

property or at school sponsored activities WILL NOT be tolerated.<br />

Severe disciplinary penalties will be given for such actions.<br />

I. Stealing - Such acts are not only against school policy, but also<br />

against the law. Intervention by law enforcement officers is one way<br />

of dealing with such offenses. <strong>Student</strong>s are encouraged to use the<br />

lock on their lockers to ensure the safety of their books and<br />

belongings.<br />

J. Profanity - Is not acceptable at any time.<br />

K. Selling - <strong>Student</strong>s are not permitted to sell any item at school without<br />

the principal’s approval.<br />

L. Prohibited items - <strong>Student</strong>s are not allowed to have in their<br />

possession;<br />

1. skateboards<br />

2. laser lights<br />

3. ammunition<br />

4. fireworks<br />

5. knives<br />

6. lighters<br />

7. potentially dangerous objects or items<br />

8. any type of real or toy gun<br />

9. chains<br />

10. drugs, alcohol or tobacco products of any kind<br />

11. all music instruments are prohibited unless stored in the<br />

band room<br />

M. Closed campus - <strong>McDonald</strong> <strong>County</strong> High School has a closed<br />

campus. <strong>Student</strong>s may NOT leave campus after their arrival.<br />

<strong>Student</strong>s who drive are to park their cars and get out at once and enter<br />

the building. <strong>Student</strong>s may NOT return to the parking lot without<br />

permission from the administration.<br />

N. Lunch - Because <strong>McDonald</strong> <strong>County</strong> High School has a closed<br />

campus, students are not allowed to leave campus at noon to eat<br />
