7. <strong>Student</strong>s must be seated before the bus is put in motion and<br />
remain seated throughout the trip.<br />
8. The driver will never discharge students at places other than<br />
their regular bus stops or at a school, unless authorized by the<br />
Director of Transportation, the building principal or his<br />
designee. These arrangements will be made before departing the<br />
school.<br />
9. <strong>Student</strong>s will not play radios, cassette players, CD players or the<br />
like on the bus except with earphones.<br />
10. Cell phones will be turned off while students are riding the bus.<br />
11. Laser pointers will not be allowed on the bus.<br />
<strong>12</strong>. All rules of conduct that apply on school property also apply on<br />
the bus.<br />
13. The emergency door is only to be used in case of an emergency.<br />
14. <strong>Student</strong>s should not create any disturbance on the bus that may<br />
distract the driver’s attention from his/her driving.<br />
15. The driver is delegated the same authority as the teacher to make<br />
and enforce rules for those for whom he/she is responsible<br />
through verbal warnings, assigned seats, and private talks.<br />
16. <strong>Student</strong>s are to stay in their seat, with their feet on the floor,<br />
while the bus is in motion, keeping your hands, feet and other<br />
objects to yourself.<br />
17. <strong>Student</strong>s may not enter the bus eating, drinking,<br />
smoking/chewing, shoving or acting boisterous. Food and drink<br />
can be approved by the bus driver on activity trips.<br />
18. Safe, courteous conduct is to be demonstrated while riding in the<br />
bus. No “horse play” will be tolerated. Loud, unnecessary<br />
noise, shouting or scuffling is NOT ACCEPTABLE.<br />
19. <strong>Student</strong>s must not, at any time extend arms or heads out of the<br />
bus windows especially when the bus is in motion.<br />
20. <strong>Student</strong>s must not try to get on or off the bus, or move about<br />
within the bus while it is in motion.<br />
21. The use of tobacco, drugs or alcohol is not permitted on the bus.<br />
22. During hot inclement weather students may drink water on the<br />
bus.<br />
23. Keep all harmful or frightening objects, weapons and creatures<br />
off the bus.<br />
24. <strong>Student</strong>s must not carry live or dead creatures, firearms (loaded<br />
or empty), knives, water guns, skate boards or other objects that<br />
can injure or alarm other students or the driver.<br />
25. <strong>Student</strong>s must not carry glass or liquid, unless it remains in a<br />
closed lunch box or backpack. (Water in an acceptable<br />
container will be allowed when the weather is exceptionally<br />
hot.)<br />
26. <strong>Student</strong>s must use trash cans on the bus. Throwing items on the<br />
floor, out the window or at other students and/or the bus driver<br />
is prohibited.<br />
27. <strong>Student</strong>s are not to puncture, slit, rip, tear, etc. bus seats.<br />
<strong>Student</strong>s caught doing so will be removed from the bus until<br />
restitution is made or arrangements for restitution are made.<br />
