ACTIVITY:<br />
a) School system utilizes a pollution prevention / EPP program. (1 points)<br />
b) School equipment reuse program / swap shop. (1 points)<br />
c) Operate and maintain a green fleet program. (1 points)<br />
APPROACH:<br />
Develop and implement a specialized pollution prevention and/or environmentally preferable<br />
purchasing program (EPP) for the school system. Create a specialized equipment reuse program<br />
for the school system. Practice green fleet management within the school system by<br />
incorporating at least 75% of the applicable best management practices outlined in chapters C-M<br />
of the Florida Green Local Government Standard Fleet Management and Vehicle Maintenance<br />
Module.<br />
SUGGESTED DOCUMENTATION:<br />
a) Submit guidelines by which the school system uses for purchase of equipment and supplies.<br />
b) Describe operation and location of reuse program/swap shop.<br />
c) Describe elements of the green fleet program that are used by the school vehicle system.<br />
BENEFIT:<br />
a) By purchasing environmentally preferable supplies, indoor air quality can be enhanced, as<br />
well as product recycled content / recyclability.<br />
b) Reuse of school equipment can save the local government money while at the same time<br />
helping to achieve solid waste management goals.<br />
c) Green fleet programs provide enhanced risk management for the school system, by reducing<br />
generation of solid and hazardous waste.<br />
