ACTIVITY:
a) Incentives for local businesses who utilize EPP or other solid waste reduction strategy. (1
points)
b) Mandatory recycling of typical recyclables and C&D debris for homes and businesses. (1
points)
APPROACH:
Develop an incentive of at least $200 per business for those that employ environmentally
preferable purchasing (EPP) or other solid waste reduction strategy. Enact mandatory and
enforced recycling of typical recyclables and C&D debris.
SUGGESTED DOCUMENTATION:
a) Submit details of incentive and any application materials.
b) Submit language of ordinance or mandate.
BENEFIT:
Offering some kind of incentive may increase participation of local businesses in the
communities EPP program, or could encourage them to develop one of their own. Enforcing a
recycling mandate will help ensure that solid waste management goals are met.

special collections. Effectively market source of mulch from chipped yard waste to community.

b) List pick up locations for mulched yard waste.
