Surf Lorian ... Just right for a Legend! Kayla-Jane, Thanks for your inquiry to the Matings Service at The A Team. Wow! We don’t have to tell you what a wonderful greyhounds she was, and how admired throughout the country. We have always believed Paua To Burn, and her very fast litter sister Classy Alice a sub 30- second winner at Albion Park, would be ideally suited for a mating to our superstar young sire Surf Lorian. He’s the multiple track record breaker and Group winner whose first progeny have just turned two and already he’s the sire of champion sprinter Slater. Therein lies the reason for our suggestion that Surf Lorian is the IDEAL mate for Paua To Burn. The fact she is by Awesome Assassin creates some exciting match-ups with Surf Lorian. Firstly there is already a proven nick between Surf Lorian’s sire Just The Best and daughters of Awesome Assassin. But you only have to look at Slater’s pedigree to see why Surf Lorian suits Paua To Burn so well. Slater’s third dam is Mad Midge, and this fabulous producer is also the third dam of Awesome Assassin (sire of Paua To Burn). But we also point out that Awesome Assassin is the sire of Group 1 winning sprinter Ben’s Fury, who is out of the same damline as Surf Lorian so this nick is already working. But it doesn’t end there. Peter Giles also trains a brilliant young dog called Overflow Breaker who is by Surf Lorian from an Awesome Assassin bitch. Overflow Breaker was a National Derby heat winner, ran a near record at Traralgon and won a Vic Breeders final recently. But it doesn’t stop there. You will see a mating between Surf Lorian and Paua To Burn will create a double-up of New Tears 4x4 and another to Brother Fox 4x4. Both these come through as a Sires Sex Balance, New Tears through the female Dee Bee in Surf Lorian and the male Light Of Fire in Paua To Burn. Brother Fox comes through the male West Cape in Surf Lorian and the female Impish Dancer in Paua To Burn. Many, many great champions have carried a SSB in their pedigrees including Brett Lee, Flying Amy, Token Prince, Worth Doing, Highly Blessed, and Paua To Burn has a SSB to Waverly Supreme (through the male Chariot Supreme and the female Supreme All Over). While on paper the Surf Lorian-Paua To Burn mating looks ideal, the fact is Surf Lorian is on the threshhold of becoming one of the really great sires in Australia, and your bitch is one of the all time great gallopers. It’s a mating made for each of them. The A Team also stands Surf Lorian’s sire Just The Best, the famed sire who only last year produced multiple Group 1 winner Miss Spicy and record breaking Cool Mat, and this year was represented by WP Gold Cup winner Romantic Diva just a week ago. Putting Paua To Burn to Just The Best will give your pups an infusion of the Credibility/Worth Doing sireline. But the most influential factor is that it will double-up Chariot Supreme through the middle of the pedigree (i.e. through the damline of JTB and the sireline of PTB). The majority of JTB’s best progeny, including Bogie Leigh, Elite State, Greasy Grizzly, Lissiloo, Big Daddy Cool, were all bred with just such a double-up of Chariot Supreme. But you will also introduce a Sires Sex Balance to Brother Fox on the fourth line of the pedigree. We cannot emphasise enough that a pedigree should be balanced in this way. So many of the world’s great champions are bred this way. Champion Irish stud dog and English Derby winner I’m Slippy had four Sires Sex Balances in his pedigree and Australian legend National Lass had three. Also at The A Team is Topgun winner Black Enforcer, the 2005 Qld Greyhound of the Year, a son of Token Prince and still the fourth fastest ever over 520m at Albion Park. His oldest progeny are just 12 months old. Putting Paua To Burn to Black Enforcer will give a SSB to Light Of Fire through the middle of the pedigree.
