interview
How long has your company
been present in the Russian market?
Does it have representatives
or dealers in the country?
We don’t work with representatives.
We work directly with some distributors
and some dealers. For example,
in St. Petersburg we have a
direct dealer handling the whole city
and in Moscow we have a couple of
dealers who sell in their stores. And
in Moscow we have a couple of distributors
who sell all over Russia. But
we have no agent or representative
– we work directly.
How important is the Russian and
CIS market for your company?
For Webert it is one of the most
important target markets, because
we see potential for growth. If we
look at Western Europe, we do not
see huge growth potential, so we
can only grow little by little, to take
some customers from our competitors.
But the Russian market is still
to develop. Apart from Moscow
and St. Petersburg, and a few other
cities, there are a lot of cities to fill
with our products. They are hungry
for products made in Italy.
How do European and Russian
consumers differ?
Russian taste is more towards the
classical style, more towards a richer
look in the products – lots of
gold finishing, bronze finishing and
Swarovski crystal – a little bit less
contemporary.
Do you manufacture some
products specifically for the
Russian market?
We have a few lines that were actually
created only for the Russian
and CIS market. They even have
Russian names: Karenina, Orlov,
Alexandra. These series were made
for the Russian market because
they have richer finishing and use
Swarovski crystal.
How do you promote your company
in Russia?
First of all, the MosBuild exhibition,
which, let’s say, is an appointment
for us each year. We haven’t missed
one since 2006. The promotion is
also done through the help of our
dealers in organising meetings with
architects and designers. I also do
product training in Russia.
Is MosBuild a key exhibition for
your company?
Yes, absolutely. Usually when we
discuss at the end of the year
which exhibitions we will be at
in the next year MosBuild is one
of the few we never discuss. We
know we will definitely be there.
What new products will Webert
be presenting at MosBuild 2013?
We are preparing something very
classical, something new, with a very
traditional look.
